and I decided to take a turn @ 85 [this is a highspeed sweeping turn (the posted speed is 50 but it can be taken @85-90 if set up right)]. I lightly stepped on the gas (mostly to stablize the car) and I notice something hit the roof
. I pull over to examine this and I see my ashtray on my rear seat
. I guess the g-forces placed on the car caused the metal tab holding the ashtray to break. I'll post pics tommorrow when it is sunny outside.Wow, I still don't get how that clip broke and it flew up and hit the roof......but hey, stranger things have happened.
Take it easy bro......and oh yeah, the dealer will replace the broken part.

Duh some passenger broke the ashtray a long time before. They never told you because they didn't want to be responsible. You never noticed cause you don't sit in the back. The turn was hard enough to knock the ashtray around but likely it was already dislodged to begin with.
This is the most likely scenario, wonder y no one else worked it out. Damn those back seat passengers.

yeah back seat passengers are gay. they never own up to anything if they spill something or break something in your car. funny story

After removing the console to run wires, I have a hard time believing that the unit would see such twisting during hard cornering. It's not all that rigid, so I wouldn't think it would bind enough to pop the ashtray out.
The rear passenger (or possibly someone who serviced/tinted your car?) theory more likely.

I've found mine cracked twice actually and thought it was just car wash attendants being rough or something; both times replaced under warranty; no questions asked.
My dealers service dept rocks!
I have an AEM CAI and the master tech says he loves the feel and sound of it since the install, he also asked me when I was going to add the plenum spacer on my last vist; my answer was "soon, very soon", he said I would really like that!

oh i read about this once... a gang of kids who go around stealing rear ashtrays. Then they sell them to yet another gang who find the original owners and pelt them with their own ashtray when they go 85 miles an hour around a curve on a backroad. you're lucky they missed. we however are not.

My passenger seat ejected my lunch buddy out of the sunroof a couple weeks back. I didn't mind it all that much. I just wish it wouldn't do it to the people I actually enjoy.

hmmm weird!
If you were cornering that hard and had a passenger you might want to check the seat for **** stains
