Question Question about rotor disc brake

I paid $575.0 for a dealer to change rotor disc and pad for front brake and an oil change.
My questions:

1. 5 months ago(30K miles) the dealer told me that my brake have 50% left and it made noise because it had brake dust. If I change the brake pad at this time, so now I don't need to change the rotor disc (cost $280 plus labor)?

2. How often I have to change the rotor disc brake? Should I go to another shop cheaper? Which one is good in SoCal?

3. How about the rear brake?

My coupe now 39K miles and most on freeway.

Please help,
The lady owner

I dont think you should be replacing ur rotors unless u seriously damaged them. Even if you warp them, usually u just resurface the rotors when u get ur pads replaced. I never changed any rotors in my car and I have had it for 83K miles. You should mebe look into this....seems like they are trying to rip you off.

Your brakes should be ok for now, just take it in and have them check the rotors and pads -- front and rear.

If the rear has never been replaced, those pads may need replacing.

Rotors should be ok unless you get shuddering when braking. Turning the rotors may work instead of replacing in this case.

Are you driving a A/T Coupe? if you are, there is an extended warranty on brakes. (on '03's at least). Check that out too when you go in.

Thank you,
I drive the A/T coupe. They have the warranty for brake at 36K.
Do I need to replace the brake pad for next time oil changed?

I feel bad that the dealer rip me off. It's Costa Mesa Infiniti. How can I know the rotor damage or not?
Also,I got rip off from the Toyota dealer for the front axle $980 in 2000 for my 95' Avalon.

If it shudders really bad when u brake ur rotors could be damaged, but a bad alignment/balance can do that too. Get a second opinion from a brake shop before changing out ur rotors, they may just need to be resurfaced/turned.

I think my coupe need an alignment because the tires were worn out from inside. Should I do the alignment in the tire shop? not a dealer?

Depends, i am not sure if dealerships have lifetime alignments, but I have lifetime through my local Firestone, and for 120$ i can get free alignments whenever i want. I have already gotten it aligned atleast 20 times since i got it a few years ago and considering that four wheel alignments run around 70 bucks ive already gotten my moneys worth by the second visit. I usually go in every 4-5 months and get it checked even if i dont feel that its off.
