Is this in a coupe? In the spare tire area? Two 12's were too big for my trunk, supposedly.

No everything is staying the same. The amp is being mounted to my back seat and the subs are being built in a box that requires less room becasue they fire downward. The subs I have are pretty nice and dont require much airspace so I can have a smaller box. Yes this is in my coupe.

I've never been a fan of RF sub's. Felt that the bass did equally disperse. It's more of a hard hitting thump. Gotta love JL's W7. Can't get anything dirtier than that. I will admit that RF amps are really good.

Will have pictures up soon (later today). Im not sure how much everything weighs but if you want just look up the subs and amp online. RF 12" T1 subs and an RF 1000 watt amp ( the nicer one). The box is just a downward firing box made out of some type of wood and then carpeted.

How much will it weigh? LMAO... Two Fosgate 12" subs, a custom box, an amp and all that hardware... Put it this way, and hey I'm knocking ya for having such a wild system (god knows I was once in your shoes)... but don't be shocked if after you get everything installed your G feels like it's dragging a cruise ships anchor...

I've been so out of the audio scene, but just to give you an idea on what I've done in the past, my Yukon has eight (8) 12" Fosgate subs powered by over 2K watts of Fosgate power, and that thing can rattle the fillings out of your teeth... I will tell you one thing though, I have heard a single JL Audio 10 in a G coupe and that thing sounded MEAN! Forgive my lack of recent audio knowledge, but it was one of those newer W subs running off a bridged 400 watt amp and it was LOUD as hell. Kicked really clean and crisp. Loved it for its sound, and loved it for its weight and size saving factor. The sub is still heavier than other 10's, but you only have one and it doesnt require a huge box, which is a plus.

I'm curently running an Infinity 10" Basslink and the bass is plentyful for the small coupe, but MOST important for me is its size and weight factor. It fits snug in the corner of my trunk, weighs no more than one bag of grocerys, and I can remove it (thanks to a plug-n-play harness) anytime I need too in a matter of seconds. After hearing the JL though, I might just swap out the Basslink for one, and get one of them 4080 enclosures...

I actually dont notice a difference in handling or acceleration (only had it for a night though). Ya it sounds pretty good though. You can crank it while you cruise with friends or turn it all the way down and just listen to music without all the bass.

Thanks for the pics. There doesn't seem to be much room for the excursion of the subs. Obviously I know it's alot of weight I just was wondering if that was a issue to you. I was going to go with the 4080 box because I used alot of different, very heavy, sub boxes in my past cars. Seen alot of my friends cars use fiberglass enclosures but the bass always seemed to lack the kick of a solid well braced wood enclosure. Thanks

Yea i know there isnt much room for the subs to move at the moment. It would be fine to leave it how it is but becasue I dont want my subs to wear out i think i am going to have a little fun project of my own and custom build a floor for the trunk and have the floor drop down a few inches for the subs to move. I dont find the extra weight an issue. Its not noticable for everyday driving, but if you track your car then chances are you dont want the extra weight back there.

woah, first of all that takes up most of your trunk. I thought when you said 'custom box' it was still going to let you throw in a set of golf clubs (required for me). ; ) And since there are two 12's I'm guessing it's a sealed box. Personally, I'm a fan of the deep vented sound. My Alpine R 10 is firing up and at full flex (sucking all of my diamond audio 600) it just about hits the bottom of the upper deck moulding.

Personally, not my cup of tea in terms of size of the box and being sealed but I'll bet it P O U N D S something serious!!

Congrats.

Are the cones facing down? I was a pro audio installer and I would've never recommended having the spkrs face down like that. There's not much air flow for the bass to bounce off of so I'm pretty sure when the bass hits, it hits and then dies quickly rather than having that nice suttle rumble. If you do decide to go with the spkrs downward, think about port holes on the side to help with the internal airflow. Also keep the trunk well ventilated because when you're back that amp so close with the backseats closed, it generate a lot heat. I think those RF T1 run at 600 watts (RMS) x 2 so that amp of yours is so friggin hot u could cook steaks and eggs on it.

Well good luck with those babies and keep in mind of venting that enclosure via port holes.

btw...i saw this custom made G35 enclosure on ebay. Check it out

Duuuude you are not getting no where near the bass you should be getting with the woofers facing down...bass needs to bounce around...you're smothering the woofers. In addition you're not saving mush room at all from the look of it...face the woofers toward the rear and you'll slap yourself for facing them down after you hear the difference

I would've faced them toward the rear as well but it is a sealed box. My port is facing the rear to develop the bass but I didn't think it mattered as much in a sealed enclosure.
