What does claiming diminished value do? I heard they just pay you money to compensate for your loses when you resell the car down the line? If so, is it too late to claim diminished value when i have already talked to the insurance company about my rear end incident? I would like to grab a grand off of them and get a new exhaust

Another quick question, if someone rear ends you and drives off, and you report the accident to the police and insurance company, will this be on carfax report?

You should check the laws regarding disclosure in the state u live in. CA, I beleive, requires full disclosure for "material" damage. There are other statutes that define what material damage constitutes. If u have material damage, and u do not disclose, that gives the seller the right to rescind the contract (get his money back-u get the car back (or what's left of it) and then he ahs a right to sue u for damages (for failing to disclose) is the possibility of all that really worth it? Best be honest...If the body shop did a good job-all the better to disclose imho... good luk.

there no way there wasn't frame damage on that car...6k!!! on a honda accord...the car had to be straightened, here's why, if someone hit him hard enough to cause that much damage, the frame had to have bent, especially with the crumple zones and how easily frames get mangled now. Cars are made to crush on impact now. But as far as the law is concerned he doesn't have to disclose anything about the car i believe. It's up to the buying party to do their research on the car. It's just what your friend feels is ethical and right.

i think your "friend" needs to use common sense. if asked, he can't lie about it. and unless the potential buyer is REALLY stupid, they ALWAYS ask that question.
