Get coilovers!!! If you want a drop you better do it right from the beginning.
Getting only springs is not a good way. Stock shocks with lowered springs will die pretty fast. The ride will become bouncy and eventually you would have to get new shocks (pay labor/spend your time on install). Get either coilovers or shocks/springs combo. This way you'll save your time and money on the long run.

If I remember correctly JoeP has s-techs and read what he said in that thread. You might want to PM him with questions.
Surprizingly (for me), many people chose only springs for their Gs. My previous experience with lowering (other cars) taught me that stock shocks + short springs is a waste of money. But that is me! Do what you like just make sure that you are aware of possible side effects.
With all my mods I try to follow the rule "do it once and do it right!"
Good luck!

When I got my IS a year and a half ago ( a 2001 with 44k miles ) I dropped it right away with H&R sports. 15k miles later the ride is the same as it was when I first dropped it. Shocks are still in good condition and the car is not bouncy at all.
However on the Hondas and Acura I have had in the past springs alone will blow those shocks quick!
not really apples to apples but my .02!
BTW: Check my profile.... I'm dropped on Stechs for the G.

yeah the stock shocks will still go 60k no prob. with s-techs. My camber got back to stock setttings too. S-techs are prolly the best mod for the money. Although i dont have sways yet, i heard those are a great mod. I think i got them for $140ish and installed them myself. If you got $1500 to spend on some tein type flex, get those, personaly i dont. Good luck.
