i was reffering to people stating that only our cost of living alone has everything to do w/ gas being high.

considering Bush and his buddies got their family fortune from oil, I think they are laughing all the way to the bank. They probably made a couple hundred millions at the least out of his 2 terms. On the other hand, China with its 1.3 billion heads are getting richer by the day and their average joe are starting to get wealthy enough to buy cars. This drives up demand in a serious fashion and probably will only get worse as time goes on. If it gets to something like 4 bucks a gallon, with our 20 gallon tank, its 80 bucks per fill up.... or 5 bucks a gallon = 100 bucks a fillup... Ill have no choice but to trade in for a hybrid or a bike.
its nice i dont see tons of escalades and H2 hugging the road now though

Well if you look @ the beginning.. Syria and Jordan pays about 1.7 per gas.. Syria is poorer than Iraq...

Well, the reasons why the big oil companies are having record high profits now days are because they also own the crude that are selling on the market at higher prices. So it's a double whammy that we the consumers are taking. The oil company sells crude at higher prices and turn around selling gas at even higher prices based on the so called “higher” crude prices.Originally Posted by blazinZ

Gas price instability. Just try to remember when in recent history our gas prices were unstable and which family was in power in the US.
If you are able to get news broadcast from countries other than the US, Britain or other "alliances". You will see a better picture of what is happening. I wonder what weapons of mass destruction Iran will hold?
There maybe some truth in Michael Moore's video essays but who really knows???

Yeap. Most Americans are not that "global" in that sense. They believe in everything our own media tells them, and they take it to the bank.Originally Posted by clinty

yes yes, i know china (not to mention korea and blah blah... arent they all the same?) doesnt just harvest its own rice. Global trade has been going on a little bit longer than since I learned how to spell moon or player hatin' degree (what, it means something else? DAMN YOU PUFF! and whoever you were ripping off at the time).
And no, i don't really think oil is the only reason iraq got blitzkrieged after many warnings and being called naughty and evil.
But I do think it is all pretty funny, and none of it very smart. I do suppose it doesn't necessarily mean I am funny in return, nor smart.
Hence, my brief tenure as a speaker at the special olympics (you'd know if you listened to one of us talk).
But politics is always fun.

A great solution for this would be funding alternative fuel sources like fuel cells like it was the freaking manhattan project. If we didn't need as much oil as we did now we could just pretend like the entire middle east didn't exist and just let them rot. Maybe 3 dollar gas will push the government into hydrogen power or whatever else we can think of.
Also, I'm curious to know what the price of gas would be now if we HADN'T invaded Iraq? I'm guessing it would be roughly the same. China and India's use of oil will multiply drastically in the coming years, and supply isn't changing much at all recently. The price of gas will go up no matter what we do about it.
I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if we found other ways to provide the US with power (air/solar/hydrogen) so we could sit back and watch China invade other countries to feed their thirst for oil. Just a thought...
I still don't believe that any of us in this forum have any room to gripe and whine. We drive some of the nicest cars on the road... our lives could be a lot worse. Be thankful you live in the nation with (by far) the cheapest gas in the modern world.
By the way, I support the president.
