Alphawerks Headers and Crawford Cats installed
Alphawerks Headers and Crawford Cats installed
Ok, so here are my preliminary impressions after having these installed yesterday:
The power is definitely there, in the entire power band, but especially from 5K RPM's to redline. The car doesn't run out of breath up high anymore. I didn't really know what to expect, but I would say it's about what I had hoped for as far as power. The car feels much lighter in a sense.
Sound is better except one thing...he said he had to stretch my flex sections on my stock y-pipe to make it fit, and now there is just a faint hissing (dare I say "bees in a can"?) sound. I think this will be remedied with my Invidia G200, however. I didn't have him install this yet because I wanted to get a feel for the other mods on their own first, as well as I really believe that an "X" section will be necessary and wanted to consider options. I think I'm going to see if he can weld a section in to the Invidia's pipes later this week or next. I think the Invidia will really finish it out and give some more "authority" to the sound that is already deeper and slightly louder.
All in all, I'm happy, but can't wait for the finished product. The install was right at $300...my total cost for headers, Jet-hot coating, cats, and install was about $1400. About the cost of the Crawford headers with coating alone.
Add in the Invidia and I'm right at 2 grand (got it on Ebay for $580). If anyone cares, I'll post impressions post-Invidia.
Oh by the way, I was behind an STI today on my way to work at a light. He took off slow, then gunned it to about 60. I hung on his bumper the whole way.

Ok, Invidia is ON!
And it's GOOOOOOD. Sound is almost exactly what I had hoped for...the hiss is nearly gone. Still a slight buzz when it's cold and you gas it, but when it warms up, it's awesome. Just enough volume to let people take notice, not so much as to drone or be annoying, though. He did put the "X" section in and it looks very professional. Supposedly this maximizes power and smoothes out the sound. I would have taken pics but didn't have my camera when he showed me. There was another guy there and he was asking about it...said "it sounds great!" Power, though not substantially greater than just with headers and cats, is more linear throughout the range. I LOVE the looks of the "blued" tips especially with my TB color--almost like it was made to match. I might can get some pics or a few sound clips if anyone wants and will show me how to post them. Just wanted to update everyone, I had a few requests via PM to do so. All in all I'm a very happy man.

An "X" or "H" is an essential on the Invidia G200. My exhaust consists of Crawford Headers and Cats along with the Invidia. Mine has an "H". You are correct, it's a great system.
