questions, help please!

hey, i just got a CB G35C! fully loaded included navigation!
yah!
but then, i have some questions about our car, please help me answer them
1. how does the car feel in snow? i only have been driven manaul for half year, do you guys think i can handle the car on the snow?
2. what is VDC? is it better on? or off?
3. from my own knowledge, G35C is also the SKYLINE in Japan..but how come it is not turbo and awd?
4. how long do you guys warm up your cars? i always wait after the RPM drops to around 500, but my friend was saying that it is worse to leave your car idling. is that true?
5. i read the some where either here or freshalloy, says its not good to keep in the same speed wiht same the RPM for a long time. so how long is like...LONG? 1 min? 5min? 10min?
6. i might have to take a road trip to LA, i live in SF right now...so it is about a 6hrs trip and i might have to drive the new coupe. is it bad for my car?

pleaaaaaaaaaaase answer and THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Re: questions, help please!

1. Snow . . . my sedan handles just fine in the snow . . . just don't get crazy trying to accelerate too quickly. You might try starting from a stop in 2nd gear if you are having troubles.

2. VDC . . . in most cases, you want to leave the VDC engaged. It will keep the rear end from spinning out under extreme circumstances. If you wanna do a burn out, you will need to turn it off. The car also seems to be a little quicker off the line when it is off.

3. Sounds like Infiniti is planning for an AWD version to be released in 2004(5)?

4. I like to let my car idle for about 5 minutes when it gets below freezing. I don't think there is anything wrong with letting it idle.

5. Never heard anything about too much time at the same RMSs. I have driven for 5 - 6 hours with the cruise on . . .

6. Road trip is perfect for breaking in your engine . . . they recommend that you keep it under 4000 rpm for the first 1400 miles or so.

I'm no expert, but hope I helped a little!

What Brock said with one exception. When breaking in the car, try not to use the cruise at one speed/rpm for extended periods, vary your speed.

Re: questions, help please!

I agree on the "no cruise" for 1st 1000 miles or so - you want to vary, even a bit, your speed. I drove my 6MT on ice for first time yesterday (between Eugene, OR and Bend) and had a near disaster. Like you, I have not driven rear-wheel for some time. I got a bit confident on the ice and let it get out from under me. Good news is when I let off gas, the car just snapped itself back into shape. I did not even hit the brakes and I was cruising at about 45 mph. Yes, I had the VDC on and it might have saved my bacon. Only time VDC would hurt you on ice is from a dead stop. When car senses slip, it will apply brakes.

Re: questions, help please!

well, I just tried it today and here it is

First:The sedan and loaded(read performance package) coupe comparison is INVALID. they are very different.
Different clearance, different transmission(in your case anyway), different track width(not sure about that), different TIRES(SIZE AND TYPE), different power.

1. Snow...Performance package coupe has 245 SUMMER Michelins on(rear). If you have to drive in snow, put snow tires on. DON'T EVEN TRY IT on those Michelins. I wouldn't even use all-weather tires. I got stuck 3 times in distance of 1 mile on practically level surface with less then 4 inches of fresh snow(no ice). And i have driven manual for 12 years in snow and whatever on different cars and different drives(fron, rear, and all). My favorite was rwd 240 Volvo
...Also, Autos are easier to start moving in snow then MT, esp if you are newbee to them. Autos are also smoother once you let the throttle go in case of emergency.

2. If you decide to disregard my advice from above(or I would also guess even if you take it and put snow tires on), you will have to turn VDC off(on manual) if you ever want to move your coupe from the stand-still in snow, once you are moving, you can turn it back on(seems to help a little to keep rear inline)

You don't need to warm the car up. just wait a few seconds, that way fresh oil will circulate and then you can start going, just NOT racing, drive nicely until water temp starts going up.

3, 4 i'll skip here

5,6 That is true for break-in period. There is no time thing here, you just don't want to take car on long highway trips while breaking in. If you have to go to work 20-30 min on highway, it's OK, because you will vary RPMS before and afer that a lot.
