Creaking diff....WTF? Help please.
Creaking diff....WTF? Help please.
For a couple of months now I've had a problem with a creaking noise coming out of my rear differential. It only occurs when I'm putting a decent amount of torque through it, say goosing the throttle in first or second gear. Its actually only seems like it comes out when the rear squats from accellerating. (both coming on the gas and off the gas..any big shift like that) I'm reluctant to get it looked at at the stealership because I'm very short of cash at the moment and gas prices are through the roof. Can anyone point me in any direction? Thanks in advance.
Edit: C'mon people, 15 views and no posts? Why does this always seem to happen to my threads?

Sounds exactly like the noise I have, and I think there is a TSB out for it:

It should be covered under warranty so don't worry about the cash, bring it into the dealer. I'm going to take my car in next week.

its probably your rear axles as stated in the second post here.....I can see why you would think its the rear diff...I have the same problem but have waited to bring it to the dealer until my rims cmoe off for the winter. Basically I dont want them to try and say my wheels caused it, but they didnt cuz its been happening since before i had them.
The creaking is prob the axles, get it checked out.
