6 Speed clutch not tranny

I was just wondering and wanted to start a new thread.

I notice and this is soooo slight that it may be .. and probably is absolutely nothing
BUT

does the clutch seem to move abit from time to time ... essentially not come out as far as before engaging a little sooner or later, than the previous lauch type thing.

I know this is normal to some degree and I am not worried .. but I was wondering if it is that "adaptive",
that after a few times of sorta riding the clutch ..
say stop and go on a hill for a while ...
does it adjust itself that easily ...???

I dunno ..maybe its the difference in my shoe sole's thickness and what it "feels" like on any given day with different shoes..

ever tried driving in you socks ... WOW ..thats very addictive ..
though winter is a biatch !!

Happy Independence day and Canada Day.

Later G's

Re: 6 Speed clutch not tranny

i've noticed somewhat similar things but not exactly the same, but i blame it on my n00biness, since this is my first manually transmissioned car and i've only had it for 2 months

i believe the engaging point is the same...try this out:
From a stop, do not press the gas, simply let out of the clutch VERY SLOWLY until the car starts creeping slightly forward without you having to press the gas, HOLD the clutch pedal at that point, if you release any further you will stall, that is the engagement point, it is the same everytime, however, for me, i cant seem to get perfect starts everytime

Re: 6 Speed clutch not tranny

ok... ok ..
thats coo ...I'll check it like that to see if its changing

since your a MT noob try this ...

this is gonna be hard to explain.

from stop
give the motor a quick rev up to about 15 to 2000 rpms as its dropping start to let the clutch out pretty fast till the engagement point and then minimally blend in the gas.

what you get here is a quick rev for the car to adjust to the fact you wanna start moving instead of sorta riding the clutch while your releasing the clutch waiting for the engagement point to show up to blend gas with to launch

its much cleaner and I have never ONCE had to adjust let alone burn a clutch in all of my 5 or 6 MT's

this takes practice to some degree but simply its
quick vroom
as its dropping ..(dont watch for it .. hear and feel it)
let the clutch out pretty fast to the engagement and you'll start rollin ... but
dont vroom it too much or you'll get a mini jerk lauch from hitting the engagement point too soon with too high rpms from the vroom

then your good to go

and its sounds better on launch then the ol blend right off the bat way.

laterrrrrrrr dude

thanks bro, thats how i learned to drive too, but when i tried that method on this car, i kept stalling because of the drive-by-wire-throttle lag that lag is still there, although it has gotten lessor

I thought I read somewhere that the clutch engagement point varies from gear to gear. I don't remember fro sure.
