Re: july orders

I actually placed an order in June, but never got an order number. I ordered a 2004 6mt coupe and was told afterwards that there was no allocation for 6mt's in June. My order is being re-entered in July and I'm supposed to hear something early next week. (We'll see?!)

Re: july orders

I ordered in June and haven't been given a number yet. I plan to check in with my salesman next week. He said they don't get the production plan for a month after they put in their requests.

Re: july orders

shelleycat...I hope your luck is better than mine. I ordered on June 7 and was told to check back the first week of July. I went by the dealer on June 28 and was told my order was rejected and would be re-entered in July order period. I guess I'll find out next week.
I ordered a 350Z last fall and was able to get an order number virtually immediately (not a month after the order was placed). I would think the G35 order would work the same way.

Re: july orders

No. None of the things you mentioned were done. All I received, other than a receipt, was a form with my personal information and details/options on the car I was ordering. There was no price listed, since they still don't have 2004 pricing information.
I did think the process was rather informal. It certainly was less formal than when I ordered a 350Z from a Nissan dealer last year.

Re: july orders

i was shopping around late may and was told june orders had to be placed by june 2 or 3 (east coast, not sure elsewhere). i ordered on 6/3 and was given an S order number for early sept or late august (if lucky) delivery. if you miss the date by a day you must wait the month.

sometimes, if they have already ordered a car, and no buyer, they will assign it to you. but if it is custom or in such demand......

Re: july orders

well as it turns out my luck wasn't better than yours! My salesguy just called me today to tell me he wasn't able to place my order with the other June orders. He's ordering on Monday. Seems his dealership was only allowed to place 4 orders because Infiniti takes a month off for summer vacation, and still has to do the 04 model change-overs to the assembly line etc. Says I should get my car by the end of September, and I'll get the VIN number and production schedule by the end of July. Argh!!! And the wait goes on!!!
