As above. I want to order some parts from japanparts.com and they asked me whether my car is earlier or later model. I have 2004 IP G35C.

 

They might be asking if your car is a 2004 vs. 2004.5. One way to tell is look at your VIN. If the last 6 digits are greater than 800001, yours is a 2004.5. If yours is less than 800000, it is a 2004.

The 2004 is probably the earlier, with the 2004.5 being the later.

The big change from 2004 to 2004.5 was ULEV2 certification. There were other relatively minor cosmetic changes.

Good question. I was unaware of any changes until 2005 model year. Maybe ULEV2 changed halfway through 2004 model year, but there were no cosmetic changes, not until the 2005 model came out. I don't know what he's talking about.

 

What is the advantage or the effects of the ULEV2 certification? What did Nissan change to make it ULEV2 compliant?
