New G- Break In Time?
ok so i just bought the new g35 coupe 6 speed. I just wanted to get some advice on the best amount for the break in time b4 i start revin high. i used to break it in at around 1000 miles under 3k rpm. I was thinking let it break in until 1500-2000 miles at under 2.5-3k rpm. Let me know what to do. thanks

take it easy on the throttle.. i mean u dont have to drive a bitch but do that for 500 miles..
1. 500 miles oil & tranny oil change & diff
- for engien oil i'll use regular oil (NO SYN!!! UNTIL 5k!)
- use whatever tranny oil the dealer/factory uses
k u can drive like a normal guy now (assuming u use more then full throttle and brake)
2. 1000 miles oil and tranny oil change & diff
- same as 500
k now u can do whatever the hell u want
3. 2,500 miles oil change & tranny if u want
- NO SYN!
enjoy the smoothness
4. 5,000 miles oil change and tranny & diff
- you're free to use syn (recommends Amsoil or Mobil1)
- free to use syn as well (recommends Shell Spirax S 75-90W Full Synthetic)
I'm assuming ur gona do the work urself to save cost..

I had a friend back in high school that had a funny little analogy that he followed when breaking in a car. It went something like this....
"Breaking in a car is like beating the crap out of your kid. If you baby him around all his life and then beat the crap out of him when he's a teenager, he'll not know what to expect and not be able to take it. On the other hand, if you beat the crap out of your kid form day one, he'll not only be able to take it but he'll also be strong enough to fight back when he gets old."
Needless to say his car was always broken....

I had my G delivered to me with 20 miles on it. The car was being redlined by its 23rd mile and has been daily up to its current 2000 miles. My father and I both race cars, and every race mechanic we have ever talked to tell us breaking in engines is pointless and that car manufactures only say this so people get used to the cars before getting on them hard. We would drop a brand new 911 engine into the car and go out on the track and run it to its full potential without a break in slipping through our mind. Everyone has there different opinions, but after being in the racing world my whole life and hearing everyone laugh at break in periods, my opinion is its crap.
