Geez! For that much money, I would just get the Skyline.

Regarding the Monaro, I like the way it looks more than the GTO. Yeah, I do have to agree that the styling is rather bland on both. Personally, I never seen either car before these pictures. I can see why everyone is saying it looks boring.

Well, as long as you like what you have, then it's all good.

Thats more expensive than the c6 Z06. The Z06 would completely demolish the Monaro too...

In4life,

Congrats bro, but you're giving up on a lot of creature comforts that I couldn't dream of living without i.e. sunroof, heated seats, nav, etc. I ran one from a short roll and he wasn't as fast as I thought he would be. Afterwards, he asked if I had a supercharger :0

Good luck man, hate to see you make the sacrifice for raw horsepower. But hey, I feel your need for speed. I've gotten old... I prefer style and handling over the straight line punch just my .2

well, i appreciate everyones input....i never meant to start a flame war on here...i did love the G for everything that it had....i do miss the things like heated seats, auto up windows, HID's and Bose sound system...but i do dare to be different...i was the first one in my podunk town and now i'm the first with a 05 GTO...it's all about originality for me...i'm only keeping the car for a year and a half anyways then selling it to my boy before i leave this godforsaken state...by then i will be looking at a used M3 or maybe back to the G again....

your joking right? I DON'T need a supercharger to beat most cars on the road. At 295 hp @ 6,000 rpm, you do!

oh BTW, I made my screename when I was considering both cars. There is a "G" in GTO....
Enjoy your overpriced and underpowered Nissan.

Ive heard cars in general are just more expensive there. That car (the silver monaro with the body kit) is definatly over priced, but the reason behind that is that the body kit alone cost over $6000, plus you have to paint it. The whees I think are over 2K (or was it 4).. Then it is also an awd coupe. Its not like the GTO we have here. That car, known as the HSV Coupe4 as side airbags, auto climate control (different from the US spec), and reverse sensors.. (and possibly a list of other things I dont know)... That is the reason why it cost so much..

Some of you guys need to stop busting his *****.. Some of us like power, some looks.. the G35 looks awsome (IMO) but lacks power (by opinion), and the GTO has power, but bland styling (IMO). Somewhere in the middle you have to make a choice of what you want. He made his choice, he had a g35, but his heart was into the GTO.. So why give him **** for it? Just wish him the best on his purchase and send him on his way..

The fit and finish of the GTO is much better than the G35 (IMO)... Which is probably why I admire the GTO so much.. It is the first american car that I have seen with this level of quality parts.

I was also in this crossroad a while back, and didnt know what I should do. I really wanted the power, and I love the GTO.. I love how comfortable the ride is on the car.. But I love the looks of the G35.. but its much slower..and even though its not as fast.. I made one thing clear to myself.. There will always be something faster.. So even though the GTO had 400hp, I would get beat by a 500hp cobra, and etc. And where was I going to use that power? It snows here badly, so how was 400hp going to help me? So, the obvious choice for me was the g35. (picking it up in oct)

how is it over price ? consider the interior and all the feature (HID, bose, sunroof auto window..etc) ! and how is it underpower ? 3.5L with 298HP instead of 6.0L with only 400hp damn bmw 5.0l already at 500hp(the new M5 (even the old one with 4.7L has 400hp already)
if G's interior was like american car i believe it will be a lot cheap, if G has 6L engine i believe it will be more then 400hp ! that's why i never llked american car, huge engine but hp isnt high as same class, and interior looks so crap

GTO compare to G... 6.0liter VS 3.5liter ? GTO engine is almost 2 times bigger but with barely 100hp more isnt it sad
shouldnt you compare other cars with 6.0L ?

Actually, at 298 hp at 7100 rpm, we do beat most cars on the road and with a lot more style...

The thing is the GTO doesn't even have that much power. It can hardly hold it's own against the STi and Evolution in a straight line stock and in a road corse it get's it's *** handed to it. These are cars with two liter engines.

It really doesnt have that much power.. only 100 more than the 2005 G. I mean, Gs are getting low 14s in the 1/4 mile and gtos 2005 Gtos are getting closer to mid 13s.. There have been a few people to get it in the 12s stock.. But maybe it was dumb luck. Its a heavy car. The STI is an AWD car, not may cars can accelerate against it in a straight line from a stop.. But race it from a roll its a different story. The best part I like about the GTO is the v8 rumble.

well, the reason that i decided on not getting the M3 was the cost...i couldnt justify spending over 700 bucks a month on a car right now...i'm only 23 and i do have a lot of bills living on my own...when i get rid of this car that will most likely be what i'm going with next....
