Re: BMW 530

No question the 330 or 530 can't match the G35 on power.

I have a G35 and a 540; between the two it is a tough call. That's good news for the G35 - it can hang with a V8!

Re: BMW 530

The 540 gives the G a good run for its money, but the G can take it without even breaking a sweat. My good friend Demetri from Haberstad BMW in Huntington, NY has one (the new one with the M5 look body package) and we raced home one day after an evening out at Dave n Busters (gotta love the linked Ferrari Challange they got there) on the LIE and it was very easy to open a gap between him and I in my G 6MT coupe even at speeds in excess ofe 100mph, but was he far off, not too far, but enough to put him to shame.

Who cares? LOL
What does the 540 cost? Even with a bigger engine, and a price tag WELL in excess of what the G35 costs, it's gettin' smoked. Motor Trend was right, these G's are gonna keep people in Munich workin' OVERTIME!!! I love it!

Who cares? In that case what is the point of this topic? Get with the discussion bro.

Using your logic, what will you conclude when a WRX beats your G35!!

Funny. You're comparing a true luxury sport sedan to and entry-level luxury sport coupe and claiming that the prices are out of whack. There are a whole lot of creature comforts when you step up from a 3 to a 5. The 5 is more like Q45 territory (but sportier).

If that is a 330ci 6-spd plus a Gruppm Intake and Remus Titanium exhaust.....it can beat my 5AT Coupe

Re: BMW 530

530 used to be my dream car, until the G35 came along. I wouldn't trade my G coupe for a 530, even if they were the same price. Now, a 540 I would think about. It's just incredible how a big sedan can go so fast.

Re: BMW 530

My pop's girlfriend has a 540 auto...that f-in' car hauls ***. It will smoke a g35 sedan, but i dont know about a coupe. If they were the same price, I wouldnt think twice about getting the BMW over the Infiniti.

I don't think it would "smoke" it - it would be really close. 540 auto is slower than 6 seconds, so it would be a close race. However, I would also get the 540 if it was the same price, because it's a fast luxury sedan.

Look man, I'm merely pointing out that everything BMW is putting out in the G's price range doesn't have nearly the performance the G has - and many of the cars they're selling with a price well in excess of the cost of the G ALSO can't match it's performance. There is no point to this discussion - comparing a $50,000.00 plus luxury sports sedan to the G is case of comparing apples and elephants. But it's still nice to know our apples can kick butt on BMW's elephant. My reply was meant to be good-natured and upbeat. What are you, the local wet blanket?

I dunno - but I DO know a WRX won't beat my G35. The STi will, but it still doesn't have the looks or the luxury the G has. What's distressing is knowing that the turbo Neon is faster, but hey - it's still a freakin' Neon! So whether you do or not, I DON'T CARE! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Re: BMW 530

I actually considered the 540i sport when I got my G. The price of a nicely-equipped 540 is about $62K, so they're not cheap, but they offer some things the G doesn't, especially on the comfort and convenience side. I also considered a 'vette, but the interior (no offense to vette owners) was too plasticy and reminded me of a Pontiac Grand Prix. The C5 is blindingly fast, though - especially the 6 speed; it's more of an all-out sports car than the G.

I ended up with the G because it's a looker, offers a reasonable degree of comfort, a great deal of sportiness yet it can be driven to upscale events and places and still not seem out of place (in fact, most valets park it with the Mercedes, BMWs and Porsches).

"(in fact, most valets park it with the Mercedes, BMWs and Porsches). "

that's because from the outside it looks like a 55 to 65 thousand dollar car... sometimes mistakened for a SC430 (well the front of the car does). I've been told that people thought I spent easily over 50k for my car (friends and family).... when I took it to the hotel last saturday in San Diego and seen Vallet park it (to make sure they don't leave anywhere else with my car) they parked it in the "A" section which is reserved for Luxury, Expensive Sport and Exotic Cars... In sections "B" "C" "D" etc... were all cluttered with regular cars... which was where they parked my mother's Rent-A-Car.. a 2000 Dodge Neon... I thought that was kinda funny. My mother gave me this look and we both laughed...lol....
