re: 03 to 04 changes

As someone else mentioned, Twilight blue was added as a color on the 04's. The center console on a 6mt will also be different with the 03.5's and up receiving a leather armrest with a sliding storage cover. Tire pressure monitoring was also added to the list, and the bose stereo deck received a quicker cd changing mechanism. There were other packages available on the 04's as well, such as the chin spoiler that many board members have. Hope this is helpful. All in all, though, nothing huge til 05's.

how can you tell the differences between the 03 and 03.5 or the 04 and 04.5??

There were 2 production runs for the 04, 04.5 is the latter, there were changes made, I know one was the transmission and some rattles etc. were corrected, CD changer is faster etc.
I don't know what else at this time and I have never found it posted anywhere but the tech that works on my car verified this and if you go to get parts you will need the production date and or VIN in order to get the correct ones for your build, you can't just give them the year for some parts, there are differences.
