G35 vs. Lexus

Re: G35 vs. Lexus
"Since most of you have never been in one, you can't make a fair comparison."
I drove one for a month straight.. My cousin has a white one (with RIMS) and of course 10 percent tint. Don't even trip saying no one drove one and about that if we can't afford one because I was pre qualified for 65k and probably could of gotten that car *IF* I wanted, but didn't even BOTHER to look into it.. My cousin's SC looks good.. but he added 5 thousand bucks in upgrades to make it look NICE... when the G is flawless without having to add upgrades...
And I'm possitive if *ANYONE* here wanted to drive one could of.. It's called a TEST DRIVE.

Re: G35 vs. Lexus
I owned a sc300 5 speed for 7 years. Not a pretender at all. It was an honest sports coupe with nice handling with a little quickness to boot. I don't think it portrayed itself to be a screamer or a Bimmer... or anything else it was not. Now if you got sucked into the sc400... maybe you were fooling yourself a bit. I traded my SC300 for my G in January. I miss the SC300 but don't regret the switch at all.

Fair enough. My "pretender" comment was entirely based on one test drive of one (pre-owned) example, which left me thoroughly underwhelmed. Your seven years of ownership followed a switch to a G35 (coupe I assume?) would have a lot more weight. I defer...

6mt coupe of course. I can see you being "underwhelmed" after 1 test-drive of the sc300. I don't think the performance ever really lived up to the promise of its looks. It was (still is) a classically styled coupe. That said... I am thrilled with the styling/performance of my G.

Well, it's a fair comparison because they're:
1) Made in Japan
2) Rear-wheel drive
3) "Sporty"
Sadly, there are few RWD cars available these days - even the huge Chevy Impala is a FWD
FWD sucks for handling. No matter what any Acura salesman says.
Honda: S2000
Acura: NSX
Lexus: SC430
Mazda: RX8, Miata (barely)
Nissan: Z
Toyota: MR2 (barely)
Have I missed any, apart from luxury & SUV's?
So, IMHO any of the above are fair comparisons (for better or worse)...

Re: G35 vs. Lexus
I think he was only listing Japanese rwd cars (sold in the US). Although I'm not sure why the MR2 and Miata qualify only "barely." If you just want to drive in straight lines, what do you care if it's RWD or not?
I heard the STi can throw 80% of its power to the rear wheels if you adjust some thingamajig in the cockpit. I wonder how that handles.
