G35 VS. AUDI A4

so, i am in a bit of a dilemma. i cannot decide whether to go with the Audi A4 which is a fine piece of german engineering, or the g35 coupe, which is luxurious and fast. I would like to know your opinions on both cars, and why you chose the G. thanks in advance

I like the A4. It's luxurious, awd, and looks good. I chose the G because I wanted something faster, the G also looks better IMO and I prefer coupes to sedans. In comparison, I just thought the coupe was a better value. The A4 seemed a bit overpriced to me.

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

I was thinking about that ... as I like the shape of the a4 and it negative proportion... especially lowered

super nice looking design

but

I thought hmmmm

all show ... no go

sure boost controller etc
= no warranty .. most likely

and I'd fear the G if we were at the light STOCK

case closed ...

for me at least

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

I was seriously considering the A4 before the G. It was a pleasure to drive - even though not that fast it handled well with quattro for a big sedan, had an awesome interior, and has gorgeous styling. Main problems for me was performance and reliability - Audi reliability is the worst of all luxury car makes by a long shot. Almost everyone I know who has owned one has had problems with theirs and Audi forums are chock full of owners having problems with theirs. Couple that with the boost upgrade for the 1.8T voiding your warranty, and you have a warranty-less lemon. No thanks.

I looked at it, but when I sat in it, I did not fit well. 6'3". I would have choose the G35S for the room factor, but the wife said I could get what I wanted, G35C.

"Audi reliability is the worst of all luxury car makes by a long shot"

Well...my brother has had two, an A4 2.8 and an A6 2.7TT, and had very little trouble with either, almost none in fact, so "your mileage may vary" as they say...

I drove both of them quite a bit and oddly I found that the A6 felt lighter and more nimble in spite of the fact that it's considerably bigger and heavier. For some reason the A4 felt VERY front-heavy, taking pavement irregularities with way too much front-end pain for my taste. By contrast the A6 is a much cooler customer. It also handles remarkably well for a family sedan, and with the 2.7TT is quite fast (0-60 in 6.7). My other brother just bought one, and the first is about to replace his with another when the lease is up (it'll be his third consecutive Audi).

I agree about the styling, especially the interior. For my money Audi owns the bragging rights for the best, most tastefully designed interiors in currently made cars.

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

a also liked the A4 but chose the GC

the main reason for not buying was the black part under the doors and at the bottom of the bumpers. makes it look cheap IMHO.
the coupe also cost less but that was just a bonus.
each looks good in its own way but the G is a supermodel and the A is clean cut but not exciting.

G has more power. A handles better and has 4WD...maybe handles a little beter because of less power??

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

As with all things, it's a YMMV thing, but I'm basing that on friends, family, and even my own experiences (owned a 5000S back in the day that was in the shop more days than I can keep track of). As well as on reliability surveys, where Audi uniformly performs below average (CR, JDP).

But even despite all this, if I had 80 grand to invest in a car I probably would go with an RS6...now that is a badass car.

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

Funny, I also seriously looked at an A4 before the G35C. If I would have stayed with a sedan rather than I coupe, I think I may be driving an A4 as I speak.

The '03 A4 looks really sharp with the sport tire/suspension pkg. If I would have gotten it, I would have gotten the 3.0 with OUT the quattro. The quattro just weighs it down so much, I'd rather have the speed than the traction.

But alas the G35 Coupe came out, and I was floored. I was days away from placing an order for an A4. I went to Infiniti, test drove the Coupe, and bought one a week later.

I can't really comment about a G35 Sedan vs. an A4, because I never test drove the G35 Sedan. IMO, the A4's interior is much much nicer than the sedan's. But then again, the sedan is much faster. Which is more important to you - speed or luxury - should help you make your decision.

Re: G35 VS. AUDI A4

G35 COUPE IS A "SUPERCAR" AND I MEAN IT. I CAN PULL UP TO A $100,000 PORSCHE TWIN TURBO AND SMILE AS MY G35C HAS FAST ENOUGH POWER, "SUPERCAR LOOKS" AND QUITE ALOT OF CASH IN MY POCKET. I'M SORRY, I JUST LOVE THIS CAR, IN THE SUN, IN THE RAIN , IN THE SNOW ? ANYWAYS, THE G-COUPE IS FOR EVERYONE THAT IS LOOKING AND BE THINKING THAT YOU ARE DRIVING A $70,000-$80,000 CAR. OH, YEAH LIFE IS GOOD WITH THE "G".

WITH IN THE NEXT 4-5 YEARS NO OTHER LUXURY CAR MAKE CAN BUILT A CAR THIS MUCH POWER "280" H.P. STOCK EXHAUST SOUNDING LIKE A FARARRI, "SUPERCAR LOOKS", AND A UNTOUCHABLE PRICE BY ALL THE COMPETITORS.

SORRY, I'M TOO EMOTIONAL WITH MY G. HAPPY MOTORING.
