G35 Coupe 2004 or BMW M3 1998
Re: G35 Coupe 2004 or BMW M3 1998
get the M3. i see enough G's around here, i don't need another person with the same car as me. i love the G. me personally, the only time i would even think about joining the bmw crowd is when i can afford one of the 100k bimmers, but if i could, i probably wouldn't get a bimmer anyway! way too common, tired of them, they all look the same to me. that's just me. get the M3! lol

G are exclusive, but super clean, well kept, and modded G's aren't. I must admit I scorn the average G non-enthusiasts. They keep their car like crap, and it ruins the image.

Dont get an M3...Get the G. My cousin has a 98 M3 and the ride is so harsh...from accelerating to bumps and to interior noises.

i think its funny that this brand new g35 is being compared to an 8 year old model ('95 was the first year the e36 m3 came out)....that tells you something doesn't it?
drive both cars and decide. if you want a driver's car, get the m3. if u want a cruisin car, get the g35. A 330 is more of a comparison w/ the g35 IMO...
disclaimer: i love g35's...i'm in the middle of deciding whehter i wanna sell my '95 m3 for a new G coupe.
good luck with your decision, both cars are awesome.

I've never driven an E36 M3, but I had an E36 325is/sport for 5 years and it was extremely tiring to drive on a highway because of relentless chassis hop. The impact harshness was similar to the G coupe, but freeway hop was maddening on highway drives after two hours or so. I'd bet the M3 version is considerably worse in both regards. In contrast, I can drive my G coupe on the highway all day long in complete comfort.

Most sports cars ride harsh. You can't really get away from that in all reality. I have to assume that a "smoother" riding car had to sacrifice something in terms of handling ability.
Whoever saidt he E36 M3 is overrated, in what context would they be overrated in? Handling, power, what is it? Are you using today's cars as comparison?
When that car came out, it was the benchmark in terms of handling. Maybe not the top dog in its class, but certainly one of them. It can still outhandle 99% of the cars on the road, stock. I truely don't think you even need to touch that supsension even if you modify it with some basic bolt-ons.
