That little gate that'll drop in front of 1st when the car is moving...

is getting aggrivating as hell

I hate rolling at 5mph and wanting to hurry and turn out at an intersection and have to go into 2nd instead of 1st

you guys know what i'm talking about?

truplay8 Oct 10, 2005 07:32 PM

nope

mikedaddy98 Oct 10, 2005 07:36 PM

Nope. I like to stop at intersections. Look both ways, and then go. :D

Not a clue.

Do you mean being in first gear and not being able to turn a corner unless you are in second gear for fear of having the rear slide out do to our high performance car?

I have experienced something like this. When downshifting into first gear and still rolling at 5 - 10 mph, the car seems to "buck" down into gear, its not a smooth transition. The best way to combat this is the heal and toe your shift, it eliminates the problem completely.

When the rpm's are too low for the gear ( in first anyway) the car stutters when downshifting ( again only experienced it going into first gear).

Heal and Toe for the win, and you will never have this happen again.

1st gear doesn't have syncros so you need to rev match. As you are braking, push in the clutch and put the car into neutral....then release the clutch and roll your foot onto the throttle to blip it. Then push in the clutch and try to put it into 1st gear. When the rev matches, it will slide in.

oh wow

so when i'm rolling and trying to get down to first, i'm actually grinding the gear?

Give it a slight rev b4 pushing it into 1st. It need to sycronize to first gear.

Oh boy. I'm not even sure what this post is all about (yet) and I'm getting confused. Confused about "what" I have no idea, but it's getting more confusing with each new replies.

go take your car out

drive at about 10mph, shift to 2nd, and then while still rolling, try shifting back to first

that's what i'm talking about

Mustang5L5 Oct 10, 2005 08:19 PM

Interesting..

Is this by design?

Wait! . . . Just to avoid some potential confusion here. Are you saying that you are rolling in 1st gear doing approx. 5 mph? . . . And you hate having to shift into 2nd to clear the intersection?
