do these mods really work for our cars?

it seems to me a lot of people here are dyno oriented. if i look at it that way, i'd be discouraged from modding due to the drop in overall powerband people have been reporting. let me ask you guys this. do you guys get faster 1/4mi times with each and every mod? does the car become more consistent even in the blazing heat and humidity? more importantly, does fuel mileage increase with basic breathing mods like intake/exhaust? i come from a 4th gen 5sp maxima. my best time was 14.05@97.8mph. this time is comparable to a lot of coupes! in fact, i could do 14.3 in my sleep with that car. i guess it was an overachiever of a VQ! with mods and practice, my times went from 15.2-14.05. if i take the same route of modification with the G then it's destined to improve correct? i'm thinking the key is whether the stock ecu will allow for mods.

there are many, many variables at play here. i wouldnt doubt it if there are maximas out there that do 11s,12s,13s, etc. there are all kinds of mods and people race in all kinds of conditions with different temperatures, altitudes, and lets not forget- drivers.

its possible that your maxima runs with Gs - im not sure what it takes for a maxima to do that, but bear in mind that a car that does 14.0 @ 98 mph in one condition may not be able to beat another car that can do 14.25@ 95mph in another condition. also, one driver may not usually be able to beat another all things equal.

as far as the G responding to mods, it definitely does - dyno tests prove it, however the car responds to some mods more than others. do dyno results translate to track performance? by definition they do, assuming you've tested your gains properly.

as far as your questions on performance in heat go... I havent driven mine in the cold and cannot answer. I havent modded the engien yet and measured fuel consumption either- so I couldnt tell you much about that either.

as far as improvement goes, i doubt you'll be able to go from 14.0 to 12.8 on currently existing N/A mods w/ street tires and stock gearing... but who knows. if you really want to take it to another level (and have the $,time, patience, etc) just go FI.
