Any stolen G35c yet?
Any stolen G35c yet?
For some reason I'm always affraid that somebody will key my car but I'm not afraid of getting it stolen anymore. Of course I don't drive it to the movies and I don't leave it in the 2-3 worst places downtown where I know cars get stolen alot but beside that I am not affraid to leave it alone for hours with no worries at all.
What about you guys?

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
Trust me, no one is dumb enough to attempt to steal a G35. Not unless the keys to the car were dropped and are right in front of the car with nobody around
. Theifs know the advanced technology on new cars and wouldn't even bother. They would rather go for something simple like an 88 camry..

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
LOL whats so advanced about the ignition kill and factory alarm? Just unplug the horn and disable the ignition kill and drive it away. Even with Honda/Acura 01+ the ignition kill is so easy to bypass in under 1min. If thieves want it, doesn't matter what kind if security features you have, it's just a matter of time for any one to disable and steal it.
Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
Well, it's not that easy to bypass the immobilizer since it's tied into the ECM. Two ways to have it stolen other than someone obtaining your keys: Tow truck and a thief has an ECM with the proper key so they can swap out yours. I'm sure bypassing the immobilizer isn't that hard to do, but it will take some time to do it.

I once too possessed the same fears as you. i know it sucked, the thought of it being stolen never passed my mind but vandilization was always weighed heavy in my mind. Now that i havea had min "G' for 7 seven months the towns people have become very familar with it and have come to respect it for the beauty and the fact that it is not their's so i'm not to worried anymore. Although i still take special precautions to avoid any matters that would cause me a severe pain.

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
My first car got stolen. I'm always cautious now. At 6am a cop called my house phone and woke me up and told me they found my car stripped out and abandoned w/o rims sitting on the rotors on the cement ground. Hard to realize being half asleep how that could be true if it was just outside the night before. I thought it was a prank call, turned out when the cop asked me if it was still where i last left it, it wasnt a prank. Opened my front door and first thing that came out of my mouth was "OH SHIZ WTF HAPPENED TO MY CAR!"
Now I just always use Autolock and Club w/ an alarm.
I'm soon going to upgrade my G to an aftermarket alarm with a Backup Battery Siren from DEI (that shiz can't be turned off w/o the barrel key and emits a constant very loud siren for 12hrs of battery. Securley drill it to the firewall so it can't be removed easily.)

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
I agree, the immobilizer is enough for me. Hell, the imobilizer even kept me from starting my own car in my old 99 Maxima. ECU got fried, and I couldn't start it.
My only thing is, if someone does steal my car, they better total the damn thing!!

I had a G5 Avantguard installed just this week. I drove my friend to Costco to check out the Xbox, and when I came out my car had alerted me that someone had been standing too close to it.......1st off I parked this car far away on the part of the parking lot that no one uses much cause people are too lazy too walk and I'm not...better a 20 second walk than 2 days in the bodyshop is what I always say.
So, I know someone had to have been trying to peek in the windows for a better view.

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
Newer vehicles with immobilizer is what car thieves avoid. It's not impossible, but just too time consuming..........and time is of the essence in vehicle theft. Here are a few things to look at in order to determine whether your car is on the "hot list":
1) are the parts on the car interchangeable with other vehicles?
2) is your car mass marketed (like the Civics, Accords, Camrys, etc.); hence, your chop shops reusing or selling the parts out................but is there enough supply of the G35s for them to justify stealing?
3) is it easy to steal?
4) is there a security system on it? (immobilizer, alarm, autolock, etc.)
If you look at the crime stats for the past 10 yrs, theives tend not to steal the newer cars.......instead, the older gen Camrys and Accords have been fighting the # 1 spot for several yrs with the Camry beating the Accord for several yrs straight.
Does this mean that the immobilizer is impenetrable? No. There are several ways to get around it:
- tow the vehicle (more of a trend today than ever)
- break into the car and swap ECUs........then start the engine with the pre-coded key
- there is also one trick that I will not reveal here, but does have something to do with the battery.
Scary? Perhaps, but MOST thieves aren't this smart........and do not have the resources to break into these higher end cars.
Here are a few ways to protect your car:
- Tint your windows
- Install a pager alarm system (DEI, Prestige, Compustar are the pager systems we carry) - they are a bit pricier than your basic $250 alarm, but it'll page you if it senses glass breakage, door / trunk / hood opening. It's worth the $$ for our G35s. These systems will run you about $550-$650 depending on where you go.
- install regular alarm with radar, back up siren, starter kill, back up battery, tilt & motion sensor
If you're from the Bay Area and would like more information on some of these products or just would like to get some more info about ways to protect your cars just email me at wil121@hotmail.com.

Come on guys repeat after me...
IF A THEIF WANTS YOUR CAR HE ***WILL*** GET YOUR CAR
No car is safe even if you have the best alarm system out in the market. If a theif wants your car he is going to get your car regardless of how hard it's gonna be. That just makes things more interesting and exciting for him...

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
awww Eddie I think a master thief like what you describe would go after Ferraris and rare cars, which have a different kind of market than the Accords and Camrys. No intelligent thief would steal something just for the challenge before they even had a fence set up to give cash for it.
Our Gs are relatively safe from thieves because joy riders don't have the smarts to get it and know it's too rare not to be noticed, and chopshops don't need the parts yet.
Now if we could only install instant electro-shock therapy for vandalizers...

Re: Any stolen G35c yet?
It's very easy for one to fall into the mindset of believing that invincible professional auto thieves. Unfortunately, you're not thinking like a car thief........you're thinking from a rational point of view. It takes a professional thief about 2-5 minutes to steal a car w/o immobilizer. Many theives do enjoy the rush, but time is something they don't have.........the longer they take the more likely they'll get caught.
Like I said, there are ways to protect your car...........not protect it from being stolen by anyone. Alarm transmitters is the new trend for auto security for one reason.........car owners will know from 3-4 blocks if they're car's being broken into. It's just an added safety.
