First blown tire

Well, 600 miles on the car and I blew a tire already. I hit a pothole going about 10mph. It was a nasty pothole. Scared the crap out of me. Anyway after driving a bit not finding anything wrong I kept going. Alignment was still good and didn't seem to be flat. I switched lanes on the highway and it made a really loud thumping when hitting the lane divider bumps. I pulled over to find out the tire was dead flat. The car literally drove perfectly fine, didn't pull or make any noise with a FLAT tire. This worries me for future issues. The pothole cut a gouge in the sidewall.

NOW the pricing for anyone curious. Discount Tire had the best price. For the front tire it was $271.99 including mounting and balancing for a direct replacement. Do NOT go to the dealership for a replacement. I called them first and they wanted $365 for a tire. That does not include mounting and balancing. It was over $400 for that. Tirerack sells them for $258. But then add shipping, mounting and balancing and it'll be more than Discount. Just a heads up for everyone.

Re: First blown tire

Thanks for the tip, sorry to hear about the blowout. $272 for the full deal definitely doesn't sound like a bad deal at all considering discount tire direct seems to have just the tire itself starting at 251.

Re: First blown tire

Damn those tires are expensive! I was hoping they would be cheaper than that, but I guess not.

Between my two cars, if I had to replace all tires on both, it would cost me $3,000!!!

Good lord that's a lotta money

I'd rather go to Tito Frito's Alley Tires on 5th and Crenshaw next to Freddy's Chicken & Waffles in Los Angeles (hoping I make it out alive) and get mine done for 110 bucks and a bag of weed... All they require is the address of another G35 Driver in the LA Area...
