Synthetic oil?...your opinion please

Just wanted some opinions on the use of synthetic oil in the g35copue. Some folks say that for a performance sports car like this one, it makes sense to go that way.

I believe in it and use it religiously. Gives a little added protection and a few H/P to boot. JMHO

Re: Synthetic oil?...your opinion please

I use Mobil 1 in my Vette, Viper and Silverado truck. The factory fills the Vette and Viper with the stuff so I continue to use it. I swithed in the truck so extend the change cycle to 4k miles. Keep in mind that tolerances in cars designed for synthetics are typically tighter as delivered and run ins are engineered for the use of synthetics. For this reason, I did not switch to synthetic oil in my truck until after the recommended break in period.

Re: Synthetic oil?...your opinion please

I believe one of the post is correct, in that synthetics are only used after break in - at least 1,000 miles before starting synthetics. Also, there are some theories that says at first warm the engine then run up to redline, then cool, then repeat the process , cool then go change the oil. Idea is to seat all the valves and rings so as to maximize the greatest horse power and then change oil to remove all the small particles of metal that might be present. I have followed this process.

Re: Synthetic oil?...your opinion please

This is such an old thread. Even had a poll.

If I'm not going to keep the car forever and and drive it daily AND the manufacturer uses regular oil, I will too. No need to spend the extra money.

AND the extended intervals is BS for several reasons - main one being you have to follow the manufacturers recommendation for warranty work.
