My Gas Mileage is horrible!!!
 Can someone explain to me why i am getting only 200 miles out of a tank of gas???? You might say STOP DRIVING LIKE A MANIAC!! but i have been keeping the car under 3500 rpms and it still wont get me more than 200 miles a tank. I have filled up 120$ worth of Gas in the past couple weeks.. the result.. just over 600 miles on my trip meter. WhaTTT IS GOING ON?? I have just under 1000 miles on the car could this be that my engine still is not broken in and i am going to get horrible mileage until it is? somebody help! By the way i hav an auto:confused:

When I first got the car...my city driving was 13-14mpg. After a few thousand mile...it improved to like 16-17mpg (city) and like 23 (hwy).
It gets better. But you should tell us how many mpg instead of full tank. If you filled up a "full" 20gal tank and only got 200...10mpg is a problem. But...since our light comes on with like 14 gallons left, you may be getting what I was getting and from what I have read in the past...normal. Besides having a big booty...our cars loooooooooove gas. |
My car's economy went up a lot after the first thousand miles. It went up more in the next thousand miles. It then went up slightly more until I reached about 8K miles.
If you want to increase economy even more, get a Z-Tube and an aftermarket drop-in air filter for the stock airbox. I used a K&N air filter in my car, but I'm going to swap it out with an Amsoil EA Nanofiber filter once I start driving the car again(after winter basicly), because the K&N filter apparently does a pretty crappy job in removing dirt from the air.. resulting in extremely dirty oil, even after only 3400 miles on Synthetic Oil. Those 2 mods coupled together should get you a consistent 1.8-2.2 MPG increase. I spent months verifying the gains of these mods and they are definitely viable gains. The fuel savings will pay for the cost of parts over the course of 1 year. |
I am getting around 11 to 13 mpg city.. no highways i have just been staying local lately.
Also, I just installed my Ztube and i have a popcharger in the garage i just have not installed it yet.. hopefully the PC will help? |
Your mpg will definitely get better with more miles. ;) Unitl then, your G will continue its love affair with your local gas stations. :D

I get around 400 miles to the tankful. I get between 22 and 23 mpg but I live and work in the country. BTW I have around 3K miles on the engine.

Bat™ congrats :) |
Your mileage should get better over time. Are you filling up the entire tank at every fill up (ie 18 or more gallons)? How does the car drive and what does it idle at?
|
I use 93 octane Shell gasoline... i would say 16- 18 gallons every time. The car drives beautifully and it idles at id say 650. I do notice one thing though... everytime i start the car the engine revs to 2100 rpms on the startup.

I used to get terrible mileage.. anywhere from around 14, 15, 16 MPG..
This was going to those cheap gas stations, like Raceway and Citgo. I stopped going to them all together, and I started sticking with the bigger names, Exxon, Mobil, and Shell. My mileage boosted to 18 MPG. I put in a Z-Tube, and learned to drive more conservatively enough to where I dont get raped on gas mileage, but enough to romp the car if I want to, and I haven't gotten under 19.5 MPG, ever since. Two fillups ago I got to 395 miles until a fillup, and I still had 2.5 gallons in the tank. Thats 22.5 MPG. |
With my lead foot, I'm getting bout 13mpg
