Engine sluggish when cold
To preface, this thread is not meant to question the necessity for warming up an engine properly before running it at modest speeds, but does anyone feel like the 6mt is incredibly sluggish when the engine is not warmed up. I've driven many other vehicles (with various engine sizes and compression ratios) that respond much much more when not warmed up (even in 70 degrees plus weather). Can't recall what oil I am using (dealer filled) but should I be going to something less viscous?

the VQ motors have to warm up before the variable valve timing can be very effective. just like the toyota vvt-i setup that runs on engine temperature-- if it's not warmed up fully then the valve timing will be off. the oil really doesn't have as much effect unless you are running an extra heavy weight which i doubt you are. i hope this all helps

??? When the engine is cold or when the weather is cold??? This motor warms up so quickly (within a couple of minutes) I would be surprised you notice it being sluggish.
It seems to run with extra power in cold weather though. Denser air?
I though the poorer gas mileage would be attibuted to the seat warmer use?
