Hey anyone out there have a subwooffer system in thier trunk? what the hell fits back there? anyone with info and pics of thier work would be great. i measured about 10.5 inches in height towards the farthest part in and really limits what i can put in there. please help. thanks RX by the way, i do not want to put bazooka tubes in the trunk, i would like a box.

 

try small box at back of each corner, not many if any pre made would fit, unless you want it in middle of the trunk, one thing you might consider, is put the sub under the rear deck, where the stock opening is at, since its 6x9, i think 10's should be no problem, with mouting deapth of 6-8 inchs, the box would only be bout 10-12 inchs down from top of the deck, evne less if you do a top loaded, there is bout 5-7 inchs space took up by that trunk mat thingin covers the bottom of the stock speakers, so the box would not intrude too much into the trunk at all.

i had the bazooka's back when it first came out in late 80's, it did NOT sound good at all, but it might imporved on it a lil by now...maybe not...hehehe...either way good luck!!!...s.w.

heck no...i cant even wash my car right. let alone to make that box...the install wasnt finished, i have to decide which HU i am gonna to get, and then they will do some touch ups for the trunk, like nail(glue) everthing down and have trim plate for the x-over at the doors...s.w.

looks great. i think im going with a custom job myself. i just bought a JL Audio W7 12 inch and getting the 500 JL amp too. can i ask how much was the custom box install without the orice of your speakers and amps? just the install and custom box. thanks RX

 

its pretty much an whole package deal, it cost me $3500, this is what i've got, audiobahn's 3 10 alumQs, A1500HCQ, A4075HCQ, ADS's641IS,346IM and yellowtop, the retail on those is bout $4000. Early on, i think they qoute me a price of 600 for the trunk install, i think i got discount, cause its a G and they want to promote their business.

When car was in shop, there was a guy put in a 12w6s, man that thing its momath, it lQQk awsome, i sure that w7 is even bigger, i think you pretty much have to get JL'S amp cause the sub is 3ohms and the JL would match it better cause its 1.5 ohm stable, are you just have one? or two subs? if you getting one sub you might not get the full power of that amp, but two of those w7 is gonna shake your trunk lid loose...not a bad idae really.....hehehehehehehe.......s.w.

actually 1 500jl amp wont really have that much power to match the W7. the W7 takes 1000watts believe it or not. im thinking of just one W7 in like a plexiglass box so it can be seen better. anyway he quoted me 600 for just the box install. thanks and let me know if you have any other pics of G's so i can get a better idea of what i want. yours looks great and i want my amp or amps to be where yours are as well but a plexiglass over it so i can store groceries etc on top. thanks

what i meant by matching is not how much power it put out, its the "ohm" , the w7's impedance is 3 ohms,most of amp are 4 , 2 or 1 ohm stable, but JL'S amp will maintan full power at anywhere from 1.5 to 4 ohms... most of amp will double the power output when you drop the ohms from 4 to 2 or 2 to 1, so if the sub is at 4ohm or dual 2 ohm and amp are rated at 500 watts at 4 ohm mono load, it most certainly will get 1000 watts at 2 ohm load(most of them) but at 3 ohms you wont get the full 1000 watts of that amp, but since JL's is at 1.5 ohm stable you can push two of the 3 ohm sub and get to 1.5 ohm's full power......not sure if i make any sensce or not...hehehe.....s.w.

well i just purchased the W7 and will shortly get an amp prob the 500 by JL audio. it does not matter on the ohms for those amps. with that said, are you saying that you dont thin thats enough power for that speaker? i think its plenty. then plan on getting a smaller amp to power mids and highs for the front. dont want to use the stock amp cause it sucks. let me know what u think thanks RX

 

ohms do matter, if you get an amp can only do 4 ohm mono load, your amp will not work too well, since sub is at 3 ohm, if you use an 2 ohm mono load stable amp and you wont get full potential of the amp's power, thats why i said the JL's amp will match with the W7 the best(well, two W7 will be ideal, cause it will be at full power potential of the 1.5 ohm amp)....but 500 watt is enuff, just want you to get the most out of your money thats all.....will take pic in vga (lo res mode) so i can post them...s.w.
