So... i feel bad for my buddy and his 350Z

My buddy Bob and I both bought our cars around 6 months ago. He got a Black 6-speed 350z and I got my 6-speed 05 G coupe. He got 19" rims w/ 275's and I got my CAI and left the car mostly stock. Well, he give me a call last Friday and tells me that he just got a Borla exhaust, Crawford Cats and a pop charger. So, I told him to meet me at the "track" so that we could run each other and see how much faster the 350z was with all of those mods. So ... we lined up, I gave the triple honk and we took off. I began to spin because I dumped the clutch a bit high. Bobs had a great launch as his 275's gripped right off of the line. We ripped through 1st and he had me by a 1/2 of a car length, we hit second and to my surprise the G began to pull on the Z. At 3rd I was right by his door and right as I shifted into 4th I was ahead of him by 1/2 of a car length. By the time we hit 110 mph I had him by a car length. We brought the cars back down to a reasonable speed and I immediately shot Bob a phone call. After spending over $1500 on mods and loosing to a G coupe he was Pi$$ED! Another G victory fellas!

I will admit that the Black 350z with powder coated 19" rims gets more looks than my G.

If he's got heavy rims on there.... they would slow the vehicle down considerably in straight line acceleration.

Gotta be the rims.

But they must look soooo good.

Big rims with huge lips look the best when you're driving slow anyway.
LOL

Not all engines are created Equal. 287hp is always est. not given in each car.

You could have more or 297/8 w/e it is

He could have less

The way you described it, it's not engine factory difference or wheels.. Your boy needs to go to a real "track" and learn to drive.

Down shift might be right.......

Go back to the track again with Bob and switch cars just to see maybe it is the drivers?

i think what happened is that after he got all his mods, he actually lost HP and TQ. his ECU needs to adjust to his mods or better yet, be tuned.

yeah that what should happen since he has 275in on his rear wheels. coz the 275 has more traction with the ground and it's havier.

I think that his rims are definitely slowing him down, but if we switched cars (which we will do next time), I think that I could pull out ahead of the G in the 350z.

But... his rims make the car look sweeeet and like I stated before, he gets more looks in the 350z than I do in the G. Maybe it is time for rims!
