'05 6MT - how to improve ride quality?

I have the 19" wheels and sport suspension and all that (I think it's standard on '05 6MT), and I'm wondering how I could improve the ride quality, we want to take the G35 on a long road trip.

Would the 18" rims from the automatic fit my car? Would it help? These tires are so loud!

18's would fit and may give a slighty better ride than the 19's. I wouldn't expect the tires to be any quieter though.
If you really want more comfort for your car you may want to consider softer springs from a non sport suspension car and aftermarket adjustable shocks like the Tokico Dspecs.

Good point. I have the problem too and it is slightly noisier now than original.

I only have 450 miles on my G so it's just the loud low-profile 19's causing the ruckus and the stiff ride. I love the car, but it's not going to be fun 10 hours at a time

I agree with the Tokico recommendation.
I would leave your springs though.

I have the OEM Z springs which are the same rates.
When I added the Tokico shocks my wife noticed the difference right away.
& she usually doesn't pay that much attention to the car.

Interesting, I may be deaf already from years in my econobox civic with no noise dampening mat'l to be found anywhere in the car, but I've done 5 hours stints in this car already and I find it pretty comfortable. And I'm guessing your tires are the same as my 05 (ie potenzas?). I do have to say tho, there is a noticeable decrease in road noise with my 17inch rims and snowtires compared to the stockers.

I'd say go with new 19inch tires, and check the reviews on tirerack and such for tires that people claim are quieter than stock.

Good luck!

check your tires presure. I felt the same way and the dealer adjusted them. Feel much different when your tire presures is right.

Good to hear your wife even noticed. I'm curious to see if my wife notices the same whenever mine get here.
None of my goodies are here yet. Oh well, I guess they'll make a good Christmas present.

I dunno but in my opinion the 05 w/ sport suspension 19's rides much better than the 18's. I had the 18's on my 2003 and they rode way crappier than the 19's w/ sport. Thats just my personal experience.

17s ride so smoothe, but im not sure you want to do anything that drastic... I have a friend that has 17s on her G coupe and it rides so much smoother than my 6MT, I wouldn't have anything but 18s on mine, I like the ride after coming from Corvettes

I'll brave it through a few more miles and see if A) I get used to it or B) it gets better as the car is broken in a little bit. Thanks!

Get softer springs and better struts. Then sell me your springs and struts. A win win scenario for both of us .
