REV light on '06 models

This may be a dumb question but what is the REV light for on the gauge cluster? I'm assuming it has to do w/the fact that our cars have the REVUP engines, but i wanted to clarify it. Mine is on all the time, is that normal?

bingo!!! on the dot!!! just kidding. it is your shift indicactor. it is warning you to shift depending on what rpm you set it at. read the manual, it tells you how to set the rpm.

And yes the REV is on all the time, but you would probably know this already had you simply searched.

The shift light rules! I have it set for 4000 RPM during break-in. It starts going blinky-blinky around 3500 RPM.

Yes, the light is one of the most annoying items on the car. Why does my dash need to say "REV" all the time?

Well, it was really annoying when I first got my car too. It sorta still is. However, I like the fact that it tells you when to shift at your predetermined RPM (actually just a bit before it). Now, if they had made the "REV" letters itself blink instead of a tiny red light box below it blink, that would have been great. The light would stay off until it is time to shift!

Hey Klumzyee. When are you going to install my Motordyne Rev-Up thingie? Can you imagine if they had a display to show you what gear you are in? With the way we shift, it'll be light a Christmas tree: Lights would be blinking all over the place

Shouldn't the light say "Shift" instead of "Rev." I am sure an all-too-literal driver will someday file a class action lawsuit b/c he broke his "REVUP" engine b/c of the light.

"Shift" seems to fit in with Nissan's advertising campaign too.

I'd like mine to say something like "Do It!" or "Wow. You're Fast"

Is that what you're used to hearing?

That's the way it goes on all of them. My guess is that if you simply have "REV" light up, instead of the red light under it, then most owners wouldn't be able to read it while it's flashing. Can you imagine the number of people who would take the car in becuase they were getting a mystery flashing red-light at higher RPMs?

It's not a big deal to me. The "VDC OFF" light is usually lit as well. And I also appreciate the programable shift-light. It was usefull during break-in and it's certainly not going to hurt anything having it flash right before my shift-point. It's not like it's a Moster Tach or something sticking in front of your face. It's not a necessity, but it doesn't hurt anything and it's a nice-to-have item. I'd rather have the shift-light than I would heated seats.
