MOD's on a budget

Hi all,

I just got an 03' G and I'm wondering what kind of mods are worth it. I don't feel like dumping a whole lot of money in the car just enough bang for buck.

I've been told that getting a z-tube/good air filter combo, is a must along with a ISO plenum 1/2". Am I correct in saying that these two mods will give you a small increase in hp and trq? probably about 10-15hp?

I also have the aero package as well, but it doesn't look really aggressive. So I've been looking for a decent kit, but with some kits costing up to 4g's that's rediculous. Can anyone recommend a decent kit that's not crazy expensive, but still gives a nice look to the car?

Obviously clear corners will be done, but what can I do to get rid of those hideous orange circle lights on the headlights?

I'd also like to smoke out the taillights, can anyone point me to a thread on where to buy them, or how to DIY them?

Thanks in advance,

Spirogyro

Yes, being dollar conscious, I would recommend the Z Tube/K&N Filter combo and a Motordyne Plenum Spacer . . . Even if your were not dollar conscious, this an excellent place to start. Good luck and have fun in choosing and installing your future mods.

Look up BlueBatMobile custom overlays if you want to smoke your tails. The z-tube and MD spacer are good MODS to start with. If you do a search i'm sure you can find out how to take out the "orange circle lights"

Some people might enjoy a speaker upgrade more than all these other mods...

But if you're not too much into music, then might I also suggest a short shifter, a drop if you're rolling stock, or a Y-pipe and maybe a new mid-pipe for an exhasut on a budget...

Just do looks if your on a budget. The basic mods just dont do anything for the car. The car performs well being stock. I would just dress it up a bit.

yup. All show NO go. our cars are already highly tuned stock so small bolt on mods won't do much. Your car would appeal better to you if you slap on some new wheels or gave it a drop.

+1. Save your money with NA "power" mods. FI is super inexpensive (in the long run) and rather reliable if you do your research.

For body kits, you can get away with only installing a front bumper in order to drastically change the appearance of your G. The Greddy front bumper is fairly cheap, but then again it is widely used. I personally prefer the TopSecret front bumper, but that single piece alone is close to $1K! I guess you gotta pay to be unique. Some good aftermarket 19" wheels give your G a nice new look as well.

TS is over priced, dont even get me started with those jokers.

I just put in a plenum, intake, ztube, and highflow cats-- Its not a drastic change, but puts a huge smile on my face when i drive it =) I got 17hp 11 torque

He's got an '03 G so the MREV won't work for him.
