yes, rule of thumb when buying a new car. when they ask if you're trading in a car, say no and do full negotiations.
then, at last second, say you've changed your mind and want to trade in car. but do your homework first.

They will always try to get there haggled price back with a trade-in. So do as he has stated above. Last minute change. they can't do squat if you have a price in writing.
I am going to get mine through my credit union they have reps that buy the car and haggle. The guy I talked to said the last one he sold 3 weeks ago had $750 off msrp. And that he can probably get it down more with the 04's coming out!
