KPTechnologies Auto Door Lock Install

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a DIY guide for the KPTechnologies Auto Door Lock module. I was in on the group buy last month and I got the window-up, auto-lock, and sunroof modules. I've found some guides for the window-up and sunroof modules with pics, but not one for the auto-lock.

The reason why I'm asking now is because I finally have some time to install these modules. I completed the window-up module with little difficulty, but after taking the panels off under the steering column, I'm a little overwhelmed by the bundles of wires under there.

Don't get me wrong, I've done electrical work on a car before, just never anything dealing with the BCM. It doesn't scare me nor am I new at soldering, but I don't want to start picking at wires and splicing into wires I'm not totally sure are correct.

I could go and purchase the service manual from Nissan, but I figured I'd ask people here first in hopes to save $20. SO, if anyone could help me out, that would be great! Two locations called for are the BCM and ignition harness. I'm assuming the BCM is the box with the bundle of wires coming out next to the fuses. But I'm not totally sure.

Also, for those of you who have installed the window-up module on a 2005, does your locking feature work? I tried enabling it, but it doesn't work. I'm assuming some wiring may have changed between the 2004 and 2005 as the DIY was for the 04. Regardless, it probably doesn't matter much since I have the other module for that, I was just curious.

Anyhow, I appreciate any help you guys can provide, and Happy Holidays!

the auto-lock is integrated into the window roll-up module... i think by default it is set to ON

"the ignition controlled door locking system is programmable.

to enable this feature:
turn the ignition on and within approx 6 seconds push the lock button thrice. the next time u turn the ignition on the doors should lock after 6 seconds"

Yeah. I tried that because it didn't auto-lock after my install. I'm wondering if either the module is defective or if there were wiring changes in 2005.

I'm not overly worried about this though. I'd really like to figure out how to install the auto-door lock module itself. I finally found a copy of the 2003 ESM and figured that I was right about the BCM. It is the box under the fuses. Now I can pinpoint a little where the wires are. Anyone know where the ignition harness is though?

Again, a DIY would be great, but it appears as though no one has made one yet.

The install shouldn't take more than an hour. Depends on how quick you are I suppose.

Does anyone have the VDC unit from them? I just pulled mine out of the car. It would sometimes work and sometimes not. I tried running the power wire to a couple spots and still nothing.

If you have a coupe then the door will open from the inside anyway even if the door is locked. So what is the point of having it lock after you turn the ignition on? It'll probably get someone locked out of their car. I start my car in the morning and get out while it warms up to put mail in the mailbox or throw the trash out. The door is kinda heavy and will sometimes close on its own if it's not fully extended open.

defualt is OFF now

right where you put the key in

send kevin a pm
he will probably have you send it back to him and he will fix it and ship it back to you. sorry yours is not working correctly.
also what wire are you using. kevin likes to favor the white black wire while i favor the black red wire. the black red wire is the better wire of the two. checkout www.kptechnologies.com/forums for the reason

only if you have an 04.5 or older
the 05's work the same way as the sedans

the auto lock module will not lock if the door is open you can also get the speed trigger add on which will lock the doors at 10mph. those will be available shortly, though

The auto door locking from the window module should work on the 2005s. Make sure you open the drivers door while trying to program it. Turn the ignition on, turn it back off, and press the 'LOCK' button three times. If the drivers door isn't opened the RAP system will remain active and not allow the module to program.

The ignition wiring runs under the drivers side lower dash on the right side, leading up to the ignition key switch. These wires are of a heavy guage, and are inside a wire loom.

It IS possible to get all signals directly from the BCM.

Ground = black wire at BCM (Pin 52 on 2004)
Ignition = White/Blue (Pin 38 on 2004)
Power = Gray (Pin 42 on 2004)

This should simplify installation, as all wiring will be centralized. However, I do not have access to an 2005 service manual, so I can NOT verify that the BCM hasen't changed again (it definately changed from 03 to 04). You don't need the whole service manual, just the bl.PDF section.

G352NV,

Send your module back to me and I will replace it. The VDC should be tapped off of the black/RED wire (NOT 12vdc while the key is in the ACC positiion, but 12vdc when the key is in the ON position). The VDC computer outputs a (-) signal with the key is in the ACC position and it confuses our module, leaving unpredictable results.

Wow... a lot of responses after I came back from vacation. Thanks for the info!

I have an 05. So I'm guessing I might still have to do some research in the wiring.

I'll be tackling my 2 remaining modules this weekend, wish me luck. =)
