Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to the forums, having only bought my 2003 G35 6MT coupe less than a month ago. I'm considering a complete overhaul of the vehicle's respiratory system. Here's what I'm looking to do:
1. Install Stillen SS headers and cat-back exhaust.
2. Install Stillen Cold Air Box + 350Z intake tube
3. Install plenum (not sure of best size to use here since I'd like to keep my engine covered; if 1/2 is possible with engine cover I prefer that)
Regarding the above changes, I have a few questions:
1. Is there anything I've missed or will this effectively replace the entire stock intake/exhast (except cats)?
2. Can I buy an aftermarket engine cover if I get the 1/2 plenum? Any bad experiences with the plenums?
3. Does anyone have any other insight on the upgrades above that would be useful before I start purchasing?
4. Any idea what kind of HP/torque gains I can expect from the upgrades above?
Oh, last thing - how much approximately in labor would #1 and #3 above cost?
Thanks!
Brian

#3 will cost you zero (0) in labor, because you can do it yourself!. It's not that hard. You will just need a torque wrench that reads in inch/lbs. Search the forum and I think you will find a DIY on the plenum.
As for the rest, you are building the background for a FI install. I don't think you will notice much difference with the exhaust mods, just sound. It will be needed for a FI system.

Thanks!
All of this is good news. I was hoping the plenum upgrade could be handled by me. As for the FI preparation, I do plan on putting in a Vortech supercharger next year. Anyone have any input on S/C vs. turbo? I've always liked the responsiveness of S/C, and haven't had any experience driving turbo vehicles.
Thanks!
Brian
