Nice paint job, I like the rims most of all. How many coats of clear did you use?

I don't notice your clear corners, did you paint over them?

personally, i think its a crappy paint job. i used caliper paint and put about 1 - 2 coats or else it gets too sblochy,i just painted over the red. i think when i get more time, i am ganna actually sand it down and do it right. no clear coat. the rims i just sharpied the ones that came with them. the trick is, you can take out the headlights, grill, intercooler, taillights and licence plate, so no tapeing to do. they are cemented it, just get a knife and kinda pick at the glue on the inside then just pop it out.

I think it looks good for what it's worth. You should have seen my first few attempts, a complete disaster. I would have never thought you used a sharpie or the rims, looks good. I wish they made rims with a decent lip for the XMODS, would look nice. You are right about taking out all those litttle pieces, makes it much easier to paint that way.

I used resist posting some more pics of my XMODS with stock rims back on and the Kenstyle body kit.

you can strip the paint off with easy off oven cleaner and repaint it with some quality paint like Tamiya's TS series.

Here is a buggy I restored. The paint was thick and goopy

I sprayed easy off oven cleaner on the paint

With a few applications and scrubing it off with a toothbrush, almost all the paint was off.

A couple of coats of Tamiya Fine Line primer.

Color coat and a couple of clear coats.

End product after sticker were applied

BTW Tamiya makes a great Black paint that has a high shine.
