I have also had the clutch/wiper vibration and rattle at idle. Also the speaker deck vibrates.

I agree with your post and others that agree all cars have minor problems. If this car was perfect the price would reflect perfection. I believe some of the things that are viewed as complaints were purposeful in the minds of the engineers, but
I am sure that read these sites and will change some things accordingly. Example some people complain about the radio control layout, but I apreciated this more when I realized that if I wanted my passenger to control certain functions the left hand layout was ideal. I have the ability to control things from the steering wheel therefore two right handed access points would not make sense. So some of the complaints are a matter of how different people view things. I do not care for the color of the interior dash illumination, but I suppose that can be remedied by changing bulb colors, not sure. As far as the interior being easily scratched, I am thinking of redoing certain parts in carbon fiber. This is easy and inexpensive to do. As far as the things that count, I agree with you guys in that they are first rate.

As you probably know though, the most expensive cars are often much less "perfect" than ours. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins etc., are all much less reliable than our Infinitis, and most other cars as well for that matter. High end BMWs and Mercedes' are no reliability picnic either. IMO the only models likely to be (very slightly) more dependable than our G35s might be Lexus, Toyota or Honda sedans, or other Infinti sedans.

Discussion groups like this always tend to hyper-magnify a car's problems because that's what tends to be discussion-worthy. Non-problems are usually non-topics, aside from the "I love my car" types of threads, of which this car has a very disproportionately large number.

For myself, aside from paint chips (common to most cars nowadays it seems), I have zero complaints with my coupe so far. In fact, to paraphrase Woody Allen, speaking of Diane Keaton in "Annie Hall", I don't love this car, I llooaavve it...I lleerrvve it... : )

I wonder if the paint chipping may come from increased use of lead-free paints/primers?

In any case, I want to reiterate despite the naglets I have, there's no car south of 60 grand I would trade my G for and that's a fact. As said, discussion forums tend to overexaggerate a car's problems and it's easy to get the feeling that the grass is greener on the other side. But if you go to the other side (read, roadfly, audiworld, etc) you'll see that their problems tend to be a lot worse than ours.

I think so...paint on my current car (which the G35C will soon replace) is absolutely the worst. As compared to the paint on my 1998 Ford Truck...its nothing, that truck has NO paint chips...maybe sitting up high helped, but that paint has been very durable. Why did kids have to eat flaking paint off of cars? Stupid morons, now we have to suffer :P

Drivetrain is pretty new, so that's prone to some problems, I don't think any other model in the Nissan/Infiniti line has (or has had) this tranny.

the tranny is shared by the Z, the sedan. The auto tranny is shared by the M45 which has 333 hp. No this tranny is new this year but several models are using it. Now, if I could only get several models to use me?

Uhm ok, but if you will notice the fact that the Z and M45 are still fairly new models, you'll understand what I meant when I said the drivetrain is pretty new. And yes I wasn't thinking about the Z when I thought that the tranny isn't shared with many cars, I tend to overlook the Z alot.
