If anything, punching it like that will help seat the valves LOL.

i hit rev limiter too after mistakenly thinking i was still in gear when i had put it in neutral on the freeway to coast for a moment... this was at about 1000 miles on my sedan this past weekend... i figure, one overrev is not gonna hurt.... now i'm at like 1270 miles so an break-in oil change is due as is the z-tube mod...

Some people think it is better to load an engine heavily early on to help seat the rings.

It's a fun car, drive it and have fun.

I hit redline every day. The day that I don't savor every last HP, I'm trading it in for a Prius.
Yeah... I readlined it on my way out of the dealer with 11 miles on it! Gotta love this car!

I've been pushing my G to its limits straight out of the box. I have 900 miles on it right now. I've always pushed all of my cars without any negative effects.

I have a supercharged nissan truck i have been pushing it since day one and i got it 5 years ago and only went in to the shop once for my supercharger pulley bearing wearing out (warranty work). This little horse is in excellent condition. I owned a 98 Mustang GT which I pushed also when it was brand new. Sold it @ 30K miles and got top BB value.

I like to push my cars because thats the only way you'll know if it a lemon or not. If it can't take the punishment early on...it probably won't be able to take it down the line.

i was reving the thing to 7 grand on the way home from buying the car with 10 miles on it. A motor is broken in within the first few miles. You should break a motor in the way its gonna be drivin. In my case i drive my cars hard, so im hard on my cars right away(on my evo, sti, turbo honda's,dsm's etc). Never had a problem with doing things this way and i will keep doing this forever. Everytime i ever built a motor i would start it up run it till warm up and take it out on the highway and do acouple third gear pulls to redline and bring it back home and put new oil in it and check the compression and every time it would be perfect. Pretty much do the same on bran new cars i just dont check the compression or change the oil to 1500 miles. So dont worry about reving the motor to 5k once, cause its NOTHING WHAT SO EVER to worry about.

The main thing that actually hurts engines during the break in period is not over-revving, but prolonged travel at the same speed. Try to avoid constant speeds for more than a couple minutes. The varying speeds help the rings to seat better.

The modern engines of today don't need break in periods, you'll be ok
