2004 G35C on Order
Just placed my order for a White on Willow 2004 G35C Auto-Prem-Wheel-Aero. ETA is September 12th. Paying full price. And I can hardly wait. I still have the XM equipment from my CL-S, so I'll just transplant it all. 03 CL-S/Nai is still for sale, but I am comfident it will sell without issue.

Nope. Nothing is wrong! I have checked with 4 other dealers in my area. The 2004 G35's are due to start arriving in September. Only one dealer I talked to mentioned a late release date of 'November' for the 04's. I was shocked too! I kept calling my dealer back and asking "Are you sure it's an 04?". He just laughs and says "the original release dates have been changed, were getting multiple shipments in September". Suprise, suprise. I am not joking, this is for real. If you are concerned, I would suggest calling more than one dealer in your area.

the first 04 coupes are scheduled to hit east coast on 9/12, although they are rumoured to come in early.
he probably got a car that was either ordered for someone else and deal is falling through or it was for dealership and they reassigned.
a custom or personalized order with a sept delivery would had to have been placed in early june, for a july build, for an august trip across the ocean. they would have been an S order.

I agree with you Studyly. This must have been an order that was cancelled. No order comes in this fast. It's an impossibility unless it happens to be the exact car the dealer had ordered awhile ago for it's stock.

First, there is a big difference between an ORDER and an ALLOCATION. All dealers have ALLOCATIONS coming. That is cars that are in line to built already, but don't have special orders. If what you want is in an allocation car that is scheduled, then they will give you that alllocation. The only way you coud get one that quick is through allocation.
An ORDER takes at least 3 months. Infiniti only receives orders the first week of each month, by the 7th. If you just did an order, it won't even go to the factory until next month. This is set by Infiniti North America. Then it takes at least 1 month to get the order in line at the factory. Once it is built, it is crated and loaded on a boat. The boat takes a couple of weeks to get to the coast. Then it takes up to 2 more weeks to be delivered by truck or rail here. In addition, every summer they shut down the factory for 2 weeks in addition for re-tooling for the new model year. As a result, there is always an immediate back log after the shut down. This is going on right now.
If you really did a special order, it would not be here until December. I ordered my 04' in May and the order went to the factory on June 7th. I got my order # about a month later. I have an "S" order that is scheduled for September, but because the re-tooling took longer than expected; it may not be until October. In my case, I had to special order my car. I wanted Willow interior with Diamond Graphite and this combination was not in a single dealers allocation list.
Contrats on the G! I only feel disappointed you didn't go for the 6-sp model now that it has the LSD standard.

my ORDER was placed on 6/3. i later was told it was an S. I recently was informed it is due in on 9/12.
i believe and agree with you about the process and difference between allocation and order. but, if i read your post, you make me question whether mine will be delayed or by some chance it is an 03.
