New Here..
New Here..
Hi people. I have been car shopping for awhile now. So far, I have looked at Lexus IS300, Mazda RX8, Infiniti G35 Coupe, and a Nissan 350Z. I have been leaning towards more to a Lexus because my parents would let me get that one. Now, I started looking at the G35 coupe for awhile. I'm leaning towards that now. Which one is better? I have a feeling I would want the G35 more because I want a coupe more than a sedan. They're both almost the same price when they both have all the options on it. I'm only 15 turning 16 in a few months. Could anyone help my descision? I would like to know more about the Infiniti G35 Coupe. I want to keep my options open until later. Thanks a bunch.
Re: New Here..
first of all welcome!
hmm dont get the rx8. its crap. it got dyno'd at around 160ish hp. and its ugly
the is300 is nice but new ones are coming very soon. so you may want to wait for the new body styles and the new engines.
id recommend either the g35c or the lexus. 350z is a nice choice but for a young driver of your age the insurance is gonna be high because its a sports coupe.
good luck with your choice

Re: New Here..
Thanks..Yeah, I know. There will be new ones coming soon for the IS300. I know the insurance will be high because it's a sports coupe. I'm stuck on the Lexus or Infiniti. All i know is that if I get either one, it'll be black with all the options and will be very nice to have.
Re: New Here..
15 and getting a G35??? Wow, I wish my parents were that rich. Anyway, I would definitely get the G over the IS. Good luck which whatever you get.

I am 19 years old (similar age) so I was going through a similar experience as you. I decided to go with the G35 Coupe...I got it about a week ago. It is the G35 Coupe 6MT, Black on Black, fully-loaded except for the Aero Package. I am extremely happy with this decision, and I think you should go with the G35 Coupe as well. It is truly a driver's car, with all the luxury amenities I could ever want (DVD navigation, heated seats, etc.). Also, since I know this does matter to you, this car does get all the looks you could possibly want. =)

damn.. 15 turning 16.. g35 coupe as a possible first car? man, can you say spoiled.. hehe..
but yeah, i would definitely say rule out the is300 and rx8.. is300 is just too common nowadays and rx8, i can't explain it, but i just don't like that car.. i've seen it on the road and it doesn't impress me..
being a g35 forum, most ppl will say g35, but honestly, 350 and g35 are both good.. 350 is more sporty and g35 is more luxury.. that's really bout it.. options can make the cars about the same.. and both cars still has head turning appeal, even tho it's diminishing as more and more g35s and 350s are sold.. but yeah, test drive them and make your decision.. i was stuck on the two, but when i first sat into the g35 coupe before i even took it out for a test drive, i knew it wuz gonna be my car

The Mazda RX-8 is a great sports car, but it is only a 1.3 liter 4-cylinder enigne, so it lacks the torque. This is the same problem the Honda S2000 suffers from...low-end torque. You will have much more fun with the G35C's huge 3.5 liter 280hp V6.
Re: New Here..
If you're about to turn 16 and your parents are willing to buy you a car in this class, then there are some other important things to consider. First of all, who's going to pay for gas, maintanence, and insurance? If it's your parents, great. If it's you, there's some extra stuff to look at.
The G35 Coupe and 350Z are definately going to be classified as high-performance vehicles by insurance companies. A 16-yr old in a hi-perf vehicle is going to pay through the nose in insurance premiums. I'm not sure about the other vehicles in your list, but it would do you good to call a couple of insurance companies and get quotes for each of the vehicles you're looking at.
You have to keep filling the tank to keep using the car. I doubt you'd drive this car like a grandma, so don't expect to get the EPA mileage ratings. In fact, the G35 coupe & sedan tend to get around 14mpg when driven aggressively, and they drink the premium stuff. You may want to look on other boards for real-world mileage figures for the cars you're looking at.
Keep doing your research. Learn about the options available on the cars you're interested in. When it comes time to buy, test drive them all (or at least as many as your parents can stand -- they'll probably have to come along or the dealership won't let you near their inventory). Half the fun is in picking out the car you want.

Re: New Here..
Ok, I know this is off the subject, but since when did it become a crime to have money? I have read many posts in this forum that down people just because: 1. The parents can afford to buy the car. or 2. The guy changed his mind and is selling his 03 Acura/Lexus/BMW/whatever to get a new G.
Just because someone can afford to do that doe not make that person as second class citizen. I wish I was rich, but I am not. Either way it does not make me upset or pissed-off at the people that are rich. In fact, I (a middle class guy), admire and respect people with money, regardless as to how they got the money (except criminals) or how they spend it.

Re: New Here..
Thanks for the info. My parents will be paying for the maintenence and insurance. The gas will be me most likely since I will be the main one driving it most of the time. I'm planning to test drive them as soon as possible to narrow down my choices. I'm still leaning on the G35 and the IS300.
