Modded Stock Airbox
Modded Stock Airbox
OK I am new here and I am sure this has been talked to death by now. I actually found the airbox mod here. But I did a couple of additions to the mod that some of you may be intrested in. First the hole at the bottom of the airbox that has the resonator attached to it I removed (original air box mod procedure) then I ran plastic tubing from the bottom of the airbox out the hole of the plastic shroud at the bottom of the car. The shroud hole had to be open up a little to get the tubing out. I have the tubing bent facing forward to catch air to force up into the box. 2nd I removed the the "power duct" (original airbox mod procedure) but instead of the original hole I cut out the indented part where the power duct layed into, further widening the hole. The opening is now more the twice the original size. There has been a lot of talk about ingesting hot engine air so I made a seal between the top of the airbox and the hood out of thick weather striping to help seal it. Thinking of fabricating something out of plastic to look a little nicer but its good for now. SO, I would say I definently feel extra kick at about 4k rpm up and the extra growl of the motor is sweet. Could be in my head, but the car is surely getting more fresh air and breathing better.
Forgot to mention I am using a K&N panel filter with this mod
