Mustang Dyno-Bone Stock-2005 6MT

I dyno’d my bone stock (even the paper filter) 2005 6MT at Curry’s Automotive in Dulles, Virginia. I have only great things to say about the guys at Curry’s. You can tell that they love what they do. And they have a Skyline in the parking lot!

It was sunny and 53 degrees. I had nearly a full tank of 93 octane. My G35 has 5500 miles and driven…moderately hard. I bought it with 800 miles so who knows about the break in period.

The dyno was a Mustang. There were two high power fans in front of the car. The tech ran 3 runs to 7000 rpm.

Well…I maxed out at 261.3 HP with 222.1 of torque! Not bad for a Mustang Dyno. One of the guys at Curry’s has the exact same car (2005 6MT w/ 6000 miles) and he dyno’d at 266 HP a couple of weeks/months? ago. One interesting note, he dyno’d at 220 HP this summer with the same car.

And yes, the box with my MREV+ is right next to me in my living room. It should be on this weekend and dyno’d next week. It will be the only modification to my car.

It’s put up or shut up time for Tony (why do I think he is over in California just grinning).

Man. That tq curve is FLAT! Those are pretty good numbers considering it's a Mustang dyno.

The number was more than I expected. At least it was consistent (+/- 5 HP) with the other 2005 6MT (which was owned by one of the front office guys). This tends to show that the dyno probably reads...I can’t say it...high...and...gasp...my G is not a “factory freak.” Oh well...

For a point of reference, a stock (I think) STI dyno’d immediately before me and hit 263 HP (but on all four wheels).

Is there anybody else in the Northern Virginia area who has run on this Dyno?

Ahh... Curry's Auto. That brings me back memories. I was there for dyno day few years ago when I had a Supra. Those were good times

Anyway, the numbers seem pretty damn good to me. Isn't drivetrain loss about 15% on MTs?

You stated some thing that seems a little off [ not saying your doing on purpose ] . You said one of the guys there dynoed at 267whp , but earlier dynoed at 220whp with the same 05 coupe as yours . If he dynoed at 220whp and now has 267whp .I dont think the weather would increase hp by 47whp. Ive dynoed on nothing but Mustangs [2] and both read with in 2 hp of each other . With the mods I had at the time on my 03 AT5 with .plenum, headers , RT cats , and Stillen dual . I dynoed at 220whp . That seems inline with his first dyno at 220whp with a MT6 . So did he say what it was that increased his and your numbers ?

Doug Stewart (from Crawford) claims 17% on the 6MT.

He works there and still seemed unsure of why there was such a difference. If you want, just give the Dulles shop a call and ask to speak with the guy who owns the lakeshore slate G35. I wish I knew.

MREV + installed...dyno results later this week.

The MREV+ installation was a piece of cake. I was going to do it Saturday morning, but after a couple of beers Friday night I just couldn’t resist. A couple of friends seemed mildly amused and stuck around for moral support (and free beer). My neighbors must have thought we were crazy. Three in the morning, in the freezing cold, disassembling a perfectly good G35.

I had no problem disconnecting the myriad of hoses and getting both plenums off. I did have the good sense to wait until the morning to torque every thing down.

I definitely can feel something…but I’ll leave that for the dyno.

I will start a new thread when I get the dyno results.

Question, what forum should I post in?
