Props to the sedan people

I have a 2003.5 6M/T coupe that is an incredible driving machine and have always been extremely biased about how I thought it would compare to a sedan...an antomatic sedan at that much. Well, I took my car for the 3750 service this morning and they gave me a sedan for the loaner. All I can say is, WOW!! This car can move and handle with the best of 'em. I must say that I was presently surprised and extremely impressed with it's performance and maneuverability. What a great car!!!

Thank's for the props to us sedan owners. But you really shouldn't be surprised.. It's basically the same exact car with the same suspension settings and 2 more doors. Of course the bodies are different, you have LSD on the 6mt coupe and 20 more HP. But the ride and drive is really no different. Of course even I think the coupe is the best looking kid in the family (wink).

Is the suspension tuning the same between the coupe and sedan? Somehow I was under the impression the coupe is a bit more tuned for handling and is stiffer.

Yep, I had a sedan loaner too. The power is very comparable but the handling is better in the coupe. I guess its the more aggresive tuning and better tires.

The coupe uses the same springs as the Z, but all version's of the FM save for the FX end up with the same spring rates within 10lbs of each other. The tuning in the coupes struts is the same as in the sedan with sport suspension. And difference in preceived handling betterment in the coupe is from it's slightly lower center of gravity and better tire's in 6mt form, vs the sedan. Running Z or coupe springs on a sedan lower's the sedan 7/8" front and 1 1/8" rear. Fact is, it's the Z that has much more aggresive struts, not the coupe. My repeated test drives in the coupe found little to no difference in the suspension's vs the sedan with sport. Driving the Z is where I noticed a huge difference in responsiveness. That's why I have Z33 suspension parts and not coupe parts.
