32,000mi service

I'd like to get some advice on the type of service needed for my G. Currently I have about 33,000 miles and it's been 1 year of almost exclusive highway driving (120mi a day). So far I have only done oil and air filter changes and know it's about time to do a more extensive service. First question is what service without a doubt should I have performed? (flush transmission, etc?) Also should I do this at the dealer or is it best to get it done at an independant shop? Any suggestions either for or to stay away from? I live in Hollywood, CA. I appriciate any knowledge you can share.

Thanks,
J

I say the first thing you should (if its an AT) is get the tranny fluid changed.

60k instead?

I took my car in to the dealer to have some warranty service performed and questioned them about the trans fluid. The service rep says that is only recommended at 60k miles. Am I jumping the gun if I have it done at 38k? Is it a waste of money right now?

Unless the fluid is full synthetic, I wouldn't keep it in there that long. Also, at the price the dealer will charge you to do a tranny flush, you can buy your own full synthetic fluid from say Amsoil and have a reputable transmission shop do the flush for you (they'll also clean out the pan and replace any filters/screens).

Not sure if Amsoil has released a compatible fluid for the G35 yet, but you can call their tech support and ask if the standard ATF is okay... My guess is they have this fluid in development, so if you can't find another supplier of the appropriate fluid, just buy the nissan oem fluid and have a trans shop do it for you.
