Uncomfortable coupe driver seats - revisited
Uncomfortable coupe driver seats - revisited
I know this has been posted about because I already ran a search. What I would like to know is if anyone knows if these will be fixed (or can be fixed) by the dealer on a coupe, or if it is only applicable to the sedan. I'm not a huge guy, 5'10", 210lbs, but man my right leg is so damn uncomfortable. I love the car to death but these seat controls make the bolster virtually impossible to break in, meanwhile I get to work everyday with a dead-leg.
Can you guys please let me know if this eventually gets broken in or if you've had it fixed somehow? I would really appreciate it.

Re: Uncomfortable coupe driver seats - revisited
I feel your pain (literally). I think the engineer that designed the oil dipstick was also involved in the location of the seat switches. They should send him to an Ergonomics 101 class. I actually fit pretty well in the Sedan seats, but the bolsters in the coupes are just not made for us wider than normal guys. Wish they could make the bolsters adjustable, but I'm not sure if there is enough width in the coupe to do it. They probably put the switches where they are because there is not enough room to get your hand between the door and the side of the seat in the traditional location. I think it might have been better to locate the switches on the door or on the front of the seats.
BTW there is a service bulletin on the switches that might help your leg. I got this from the TSB – Service Bulletins page on the site:
Service Bulletin Num : 03018 Date of Bulletin: MAR 12, 2003
Type: Coupe and Sedan
Component: SEATS
Summary: DRIVER'S SEAT COMFORT IMPROVEMENT. *SCC
IF YOU CONFIRM: The power seat switch is causing discomfort to the vehicle driver,
ACTIONS: Remove the plastic support plate from the power seat switch bracket. - Install urethane foam pad behind the power seat switch bracket.

Re: Uncomfortable coupe driver seats - revisited
Yeah it's uncomfortable as hell, but not as bad as that freakin seatbelt cutting into my collarbone or neck...I have tried every realisitc seat postion...the only thing that sorta helps is to lock the drivers seatblet guide into the bottom-back postion...forcing the tension to losen up...yeah, sure you might die in an autmobile accident from the seatbelt not retracting quickly enough, but just think of all the money you will save on orthopedic doctor visits and skin chaffing.
