fog light harness.

I havent had time to put my hands on it, but after looking at the schematics for the fog/high bulb, it appears that there is a "three-wire" harness that connects to the bulb.

can anyone confirm this?

Given that it's a dual filament bulb, it should have 3 wires. One ground and 2 power. One power for low/fog filament, one power for high filament with both sharing the ground.

not necessarily. it could be a relay that applies the higher voltage (60 watt for high) i just haven't been able to put a hand on it yet to know for sure.

Mmmm... I don't think so. It pretty much has to be a dual filament bulb. If you turn on your fogs, pull up to a wall, and then flick on your highs, you'll see the light briefly dim before the highs come on and because the projection of the light is at a higher angle, there has to be a change in geometry of the headlamp and the only way to do that is to either move the bulb or light up a different filament.

I could be wrong. I'm just going off on how I've seen the headlights behave. Yeah. Only way to be 100% sure is to actually look at the wiring harness.

Yeah. The high/fog uses 9003s and those are dual filaments, so the harness has to be 3 wires.

no, i agree that it is a dual filament bulb, however its possible that a relay is what causes the second filament to light. i believe that it is a 3 wire, I'm just trying to find out for sure before i have the time to get in there myself.

Oh. So you're saying that there could be a relay that the "3rd wire" connects to which when is energized will activate the relay and complete the circuit for the 2nd filament and at the same time break the circuit for the 1st filament? Therefore, the "3rd wire" won't be carrying much current.
