6MT SLIGHT roughness at 2500 rpm??
I have the 6MT coupe w 4000 miles, but recently it seems like I have noticed a VERY SLIGHT roughness as i accelerate past 2500 - 3000 rpm. Could have been there all along.
I'm not sure if i'm just hearing the exhaust noise or its actually the engine not accelerating quite as smooth.
Do not notice it all the time, just now and then.. The acceleration seems a LITTLE rough in that range.
Again, its VERY minor... anyone know what i'm talking about? Is it in fact the exhaust i'm hearing??

I dont know about the roughness when your accelerating but when I downshift sometimes in that RPM range I do notice a shift in the tone of the engine. It seems to go from smooth to kinda harsh as it winds down. If I had to compare it to something I would say it kinda feels like when you hear a big rig downshifting and making that loud almost backfiring sound. Sometihing like that. I dont know what it is though. Anyone else?

yes.... a "shift in the tone of the engine .....from smooth to kinda harsh" is exactly what i'm talking about.
I believe that its normal and either the exhaust or just the way the car's engine is designed. Just wanted to check and see if anyone else has noticed it.

redwillow, I have an A/T Coupe but I've noticed something strange at about 3k to 3.5k: The engine sound changes, and there's a certain change in "feeling" of the car. Not sure if harsh is the word.
I figured it was the motor transitioning from low rpm performance where the variable valve timing isn't noticed so much, to higher rpms where she comes alive and the variable valve timing makes her really cook and sing.
Mine's always been that way and never changed, so I'm guessing it's nothing to worry about.
Nature of the beast.
