Only if I can do it myself

I looked at my bill after the oil change yesterday and noticed that the OEM brand oil filter is only $6.40!! The most expensive item is the labor. If I have a way to change oil myself in the garage, I would save some money. Damn, wish I have the tools needed.

Changing oil is one of the easiest DIYs one can do to any car. You'll just get your hands dirty.

Tools? Pan to collect the oil, maybe axle stands or a ramps to lift your car high enough if you can't reach the filter, and maybe a special wrench that'll help you take off the filter.

Not hard ... but just a small pain to do. I'll be changing the oil from my car once the warranty expires. One small tip -- get your finger wet with the new oil and put it around the edge of the new filter -- gives it a tight seal.

10mm socket to take off the plastic panel
14mm socket for the oil drain
Pan
jack

Changing oil on the G is the easiest oil change job I ever done since honda's. The oil filter is right next to the oil pan and when it drips(while removing the filter) it doesnt run all over the place and make a mess. Only hard part is removing 10,000 bolts when removing the under panel/

I just finished my 1st oil...

change on the new G and it was a pain in the ***. There is literally 30 screws you have to remove to get the skid plate off before you even start the oil change. I like to do the oil change myself because I know it's been done right. I do not trust the grease monkeys at the dealership or Jiffy Lube. It took me an hour from start to finish.

FOr the cost of an oil change at the dealer you could buy the tools you need. And then you would have them from that point on.

i found a way to change the oil by only removing a few of the 10mm bolts on the plastic cover, but its messy as hell.
