Oil consumption

I would very much like to know if you have had to add oil in between regular oil changes and if so about how much oil was consumed in about how many miles. Obviously this pertains to fully broken in cars with say over 3000 miles. It would also be interesting to know whether you primarily drive at highway speeds or stop and go. While it is difficult to read the crazy dipstick in looks like I will be consuming about a quart in about 4000 miles (mostly high speed highway) which has me a bit concerned.

Re: Oil consumption

I dont know why, but VQ35 consumption seems more common than VQ30 consumption. Of all the cars that do use a qt between changes, I've never really heard of one needing more than a qt at 3-4K (hence not falling below min line). I've also read that most VQs do not tend to use more oil as the miles accumulate.

Youre right, the stick is bizarre... if I'm reading it correctly (and we'll never know :/) then mine might be doing 1/8-1/4 qt per 1K. I'm still in denial, but watching it closely.

I'm not sure why that stresses me, if it doesnt smoke, doesnt get worse, and doesnt require checking between changes then I really shouldnt sweat it.
