Questions about K&N air filters
Reading these forums I have read tons of different things. Conflicting part numbers, to reseting the ECU, to disconnecting the battery. I purchased and installed the K&N filter that came with the spacers (can't remember the part number). I did this about 500 miles ago, I did not disconnect the battery. Should I have disconnected my battery? or would that not make a difference. To be honest I havent noticed any difference in performance or gas millage. After I installed it, one time while driving on the highway when I was in the fast lane next to the gaurd rail I could have sworn I heard sputtering comming from the exhaust. I was driving at a steady speed and a steady rpm. I might have been hearing things. Could this be from possibly not disconnecting the battery? I havent heard anything since but it made me a bit nervous. I am seriously thinking about just reinstalling the stock filter.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Questions about K&N air filters
I've had my K&N installed for about 7 months now, and have had no problems with it. It's the first mod I did. I had one on my last car, and I have one on my Harley. I did not not feel a large increase in power, but I believe I felt something. The design of the filter does produce less restriction on incoming air. The important thing is not to over oil it or it may contaminate the MAF (not a problem with a new filter). I don't plan on ever removing it or changing my intake from it's current configuration. BTW, I also have a 350Z intake tube, Crawford Plenum, full duals, and a grounding kit. The Plenum is awesome. I have never disconnected my ECU, and with each change I could feel the difference.
