Swoop and squat fraud. Happens all the time. Thats what it sounds like to me...the 'Stang was trying to get you go rear-end it. Had it worked, you would've more than likely been blamed and cited for not having assured-clear-distance.

Hope everything works out for the best and that those people are all OK! Unfortunately, sometimes a car proves it's true worth when you get to walk away from it after something like this

Who says the swoop 'n' squat didn't work? The pro scammers use more than one vehicle. They find a new car driving next to the concrete divider. One vehicle gets right beside the victim to prevent him from changing lanes, and one cuts him off to cause an accident. This sounds like a case of swoop 'n' squat that worked almost perfectly. The people in the minivan could have been in on the whole thing.

wouldnt the people in the van be worried that they somehow get hit into a tree or pole and all die or something if it was a scam? I have never heard of this scam, but wow I will be on the lookout for stuff like that now.

Looking at those pics, ur car is big time totalled. Just glad ur safe

OMG . . . After viewing the pics, all I can think of to ask is, "Are you okay?" I trust that you are doing fine and that everything works out for you with regard to your car. Very please to read that you were not seriously injured in the unfortunate mishap.

Wow Chris, you are very lucky to be alive. I can't believe all the damage to your car. Look at the bright side, you get a new car. But keep on top of the insurance people and everything, the hard work/effort will pay off.

Aww crap. I remember hearing that G's don't take side impacts very well. Those pics are proof. A passenger would have had their legs crushed for sure.

Damn, that's lame. I'd just hit the Mustang. I hope you filed a police report, hopefully with your side of the story.

Yea insurances don't care who was the cause of the accident (Mustang) as long as they can milk someone's insurance (Yours). My brother's gf got rear ended by a Benz which resulted in a 7 car pile up. Benz took off and the gf got blamed for the 6 cars. CHP couldn't find the car on any of their fwy cams and NOBODY bothered to get the Benz's plate. Good Luck!
